There should be a special award for posters who are too stupid to understand the concept of a Darwin Award.

Poor dwarf Japanese Maple :(

That size, easy $1000.

$1000 for a bush?

we all know churches have no money >.>

Seriously though the kid is a fool.

Ok two more problems with "religious" people. The Pastor wants the kid prosecuted. What happen to forgiveness? Seems to me that $1000 would serve more by clothing or feeding or job training someone.

Good points; I can't argue with you there.

The kid and his friends, however, are complete dumbasses.

Who knows how much it cost to put in? They could have bought it as a much smaller bush for much less.

Here's the thing, churches like this, have a "committee" who think they're special by voting on issues related to their church, and the whole thing reeks of bureaucracy. Thus, they want their bushes repaired, vote in favor, and make the pastor tell 'em.
I've had experience with this sort of thing, regardless, its destructive to property, I mean...wtf?

Such stupidity deserves to be prosecuted anyway...I don't have a problem with it.

Best punishment for that twerp would be for him to buy the replacement shrubbery, then have to dig out the old one and plant the new one in it's place. Trust me, after 8 hours (or more) of hard work with a pick & shovel, he'll think twice before he does the dumbass move again.

Tree! I paid $250 for one that was maybe 30" tall, maybe a 4 year old plant. Similar dwarf maples can go for $100-$1500 depending on the variety (which usually bears the name of the grower).

That tree is maybe 10 years old. See what it costs for a ten year old tree even if it's a white pine (weak sauce) let alone a dwarf maple.

WTF wouldn't you prosecute? he damaged property for a stupid stunt.

not only y should he get a mark on his record (lets be real he is not going to jail) he should pay to replace the tree.
