Of course you have no idea at all how you feel about yourself because you are ignorant of the fact that your feelings are deeply burried and can be got at only with enormous effort and, at that, often, only after a protracted struggle, and one that almost always requires the oversight of a free individual, of which there isn't an abundent supply. But because you know nothing about anything regarding yourself you can't know this either. Your 'self' is protected by a perfectly spherical mirror behind which you cannot see. It's why you see youreslf when you look at me.Originally posted by: CADkindaGUY

The nescience and intolerance in this thread is astounding.
Some of you should spend a little more time reading, whether 'gay' books or not, you might even learn to distinguish a homophobe from a homophone, perchance become a little less ignorant in the process.

You just proved that. A knowledgable person would have said disbelief. Unbelief isn't a word. What go together are ignorance and gullibility. And you are not a believer anyway. Your god is a bogot and a bigot can't be God. What you worship is the Devil. He got to you through your self-hate and irrational self-disgust.

The liberal media and the social leftists in this country promote ideas like homosexuality, but discriminate against and belittle organized religion. It's similar to affirmative action. In order to repair a perceived inequality (blacks and hispanics), we discriminate against another group (whites). If we're a truly diverse society, all life styles, belief systems, and people should be treated equally. You are welcome to an opinion, but it is based on a false premise. Homosexual themes, as you call them reflect objective reality and are hardly themes any more than that heterosexuals are pushing heterosexual themes when a princess and prince kiss. Our Constitution maintains a separation of church and state not a separation of reality and state. And whatever problems you may imagine or actually exist in affirmative action don't automatically apply to this issue. The immense bigotry toward gays, especially coming from a bigoted form of Christianity, needs to be reversed. It demeans gays and bigots alike.
Are you talking about state schools maintained by state money which makes teaching a particular religion in the school illegal or are you talking about religious schools paid for by tuitions, etc, but no state money. I hope you don't think that state schools don't fall under the 'separation' theme. Now where curricula includes the study of comparative religion, religious books would needs be a part of the school library, seems to me.Originally posted by: FrodoB

You have an incorrect view of the Constitution and the myth of separation of church and state. The government isn't allowed to mandate a religion or prohibit one's practice of a religion. Including religious books in a school library has nothing to do with the Constitution. It demeans the religious when their symbols and themes are discriminated against in the schools.
Are you a bigot?

God said something about leaving the affairs of the state to the state while taking care to observe the affairs which lead us to God (more or less). "... Leave unto Caesar that which is Caesar's ..." God didn't send Jesus to install government on earth, he sent him to provide another covenant by which we may gain entrance to heaven.
The Constitution has been interpreted, in part, to mean that there IS a separation of 'church' and 'state'. That the views of all the people are equally right and that one cannot trump the other. It means that anything that is religious should be of an individual and personal nature. Teaching that is of a religious nature or anything that is of a religious nature cannot be incorporated into any 'governmental' 'thinking'.
I think anything that is supportive of one faction or another that is not of a religious nature is OK. But, conversely, anything that bears witness to or from a religious POV that is not supported by history from generally accepted unbiased sources is not OK. I don't like this but, it is the way I read the Law of the Land. And, it seems to be the way the USSC sees it too.

I don't much like it either, LR, because everybody should believe that Mombobo is God and should give me, his high priest, their eldest daughter.

Can I just call you Mom or BoBo for short..? I'll use Mom... cuz it sounds... so... comforting..
I think it would be OK, Mom, for you to receive the eldest daughter if you were the 'High Senator' but, not the 'High Priest'. You see the religious connotations in being a priest versus a senator, right?
You could always start up a Rock Band and have your pick of the litter (so to speak)...We all know Rock Bands tend not to be of a religious nature.. unless they are a religious rock band and that is taboo.. Well, not taboo yet but, as long as they don't advertise it as being supportive of God I guess it is OK.
But, on point, I think the elementary maybe middle school system must be for the teaching of our kids the fundamentals of the three R's and by the time kids get on to high school and are developed in discernment between and among the realities that surround them it is more OK to introduce all of culture to them in an unbiased and informative manner.. I think..![]()

Well I don't think I would agree. I been curious about sex since I slid down a flag pole in kindergarten. It was my first 21 gun salute and definitely got my attention.
