Cool. You've actually driven it.

If I ever make it back to Middle Germany...

It's not open all the time, so if those numbers are correct its more than 1 a week during peak operating hours.

It is cool to see all sorts of vehicles making the trek out on the ring, shame I haven't been on it yet though. I did drive to the entrance though, that was pretty fun to just hang out and see all the cars. One guy from Britain went home minus his M3 as he had stuffed it into a wall somewhere.

I really want to play GT4 but I moved my ps2 out to the living room recently and I got nowhere to put my wheel/pedals now :(. I can't play racers with a controller anymore. Once you go wheel you never go back. They really need to make a good wireless wheel that's universal for all platforms though.

Not much to do in GT4 anyways since they axed online play before it was released. Guess I'll just need to find a good computer racer. My wheel works perfect on computer also.

I've always thought it would be cool to take a car on a race track and just do a bunch of laps. I would not want to do actual racing without some really good training and safety measures, but to just go alone for the sake of going fast, would be fun. Even in a regular non race car. Most cars can go WAY faster then you can legaly even go on the streets.

It does not take much to give me a speed thrill. 70km/h is about the highest speed limit in my area. There's one small stretch that is 80 near the end of the city. Thing is, if you're not going 20 over people tailgate and some even beep the horn.

I can hardly play GT4 with a wheel...it just feels wrong. I'm better with a controller with GT4..but I love the wheel with GTR2, Race07, etc..

But, then they mentioned something very quickly (as if they didn't want you to catch it)...someone DIES there EVERY WEEK. Maybe not a good idea to open it to the public? I mean, they probably open the track to people when it's getting dark out, and it's one of the most difficult tracks out there...AND there's no speed limit.

I guess that's how they do things in Germany though :p - How long would it take that operation to get shutdown in the states?

Still kinda hard to believe someone dies there every week (or every other week, would still be amazing). Gotta trust the SciFi channel though, right? :p

That track really isn't set up for riding - no sand or gravel to slow you down if you lowside and virtually all turns have metal rails. I don't get the appeal of riding there... you will break your ankles at the very least.

I've must of played that track over a hundred times in GT or other racing games that has that track and some of those corners still get time to time. If I'm just going for a smooth run I can make it without wiping out but the moment I start timing and pushing myself I would probably die 3 or 4 times on one lap if it was real life.
