MythTV box case

I'm looking into building a MythTV box (and I know enough about it, including that it runs only on Linux). I have most of the hardware picked out, or at least estimated, and I'm planning on having the front and backends as one unit. My issue is a case for the box. I do not have much to spend on the case, but I'm looking for a moderately smaller case that runs pretty quiet, with room for a couple hard drives and a couple of capture cards.

I do not want nor can I afford one of the cases that looks like a set-top box. I just want something that can sit in an entertainment center that won't sound like an air conditioner (I also know that fans can be changed, so any suggestions there would be helpful too).

Welcome to the AT forums, if I haven't caught you before.

Ultra MicroFly - get one w/o PSU and choose your own.

Or maybe the Coolermaster Cavalier HTPC cases - not too expensive.

Also check out the nMedia HTPC cases - some aren't too expensive.

Also look at the Athenatech A100 series and the Enermax Venus series.

Thermaltake has a few that come in at under $100.

Don't limit yourself to Newegg, as they are often beat on cases and PSUs at the bottom line.

Thanks. Was a member years ago, but changed email addresses and couldn't recover my password. I'll look into those.

What's your budget for a case?

Because an antec nsk2400 can be had at 90 bucks or less when on sale, and it's an awesome case.

Another vote for the Athennatech A100 is nice, built a few systems using it. You can use it horizontal or vertical. It has room for 2 HD's, and 1 80MM and 2 60MM fans. Very quite, cheap and easy to work in (all thumb screws) the HD's tend to run a little hot but I don't think it's enough to cause any worries.

for $50 bucks you won't find a better mATX case.
