okay the paper one was off, he was barely moving. a car that moves twice as fast as the conveyor belt would move forward too.

I can't believe people think that the prop is for creating lift. Actually, this is America, I can.

no, the prop is for airspeed
the lift is created on the wing, due to the airspeed

imho they messed up, if the treadmill is going 11 mph and the plane is going faster (which it looked like it was to me) of course it's going to move forward. i know i know, it doesn't matter blah blah. but i'd still like to see it done that way. that would cover the whole frictionless bearings thing or whatever.

it doesn't matter how fast the conveyor belt goes, that is the point
<trout smack>

i'd still like to SEE that.

Do you fail at reading comprehension? I know what it's for. I can't believe other people don't.

Btw, it's my first time seeing Kari in HD on my TV. Me likey 😉

I'm still baffled by the fact that I have Discovery HD but neither Mythbusters or Dirty Jobs or really any of the good shows are in HD. What up wit dat?

if you're like me, you have HDT which has replaced discovery HD. I think DirecTV has discovery hd, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm kinda tired of seeing oc chopers, 1000 places, sunrise earth, and all other kinds of shit.

I'd much rather have the regular discovery HD

re: all the above, thanks.

i have both on comcast. discovery HD is 10x better than HDT.

it does nto matter. the prop/jet would still provide thrust (wich is what we been saying).

What?
Yeah, I'm a bit confused, too. The plane takes off, stationary or moving ground.
The carriers just use a slingshot to boost the jets to their takeoff speed.

And there we go, it'd also be possible to use a slingshot to get a plane airborne. In fact, I had toys that did just that - rubber band slingshot, and hey, the plane flies, with only its own forward momentum to push it through the air.

BECAUSE THEY ARE TAKING THE TIME TO DISPROVE IT ON THE TV, SO WHY NOT GO THE WHOLE 9 YARDS INSTEAD OF HALF ASSING IT?

those who are thinking the plane will just stand still when the speed of the plane matches the treadmill are just not thinking properly. if the plane stayed in one spot on the treadmill, then yes you are right, it would not take off.

however the plane will never just "stand still" on a treadmill when it has any force from the props/jets pushing it forward.

Well shit, I get my locals in HD, but I don't know if it's worth it compared to discovery HD!

Christ, you don't get it.

The plane only looked like it was going faster because it doesn't matter what speed the treadmill goes. It will ALWAYS GO FASTER.

SO WHAT IF YOU HAD A TREADMILL THAT COULD GO FASTER THEN THE ENGINES COULD PUSH THE PLANE?!?! WHAT THEN!?!??!

would the time space continuum implode?
