Myth Busters jumped the shark.

Several months ago we were talking about how myth busters isn't even testing myths any more but they are testing sayings.

We were going to suggest on their web site to test the saying "you can't polish a turd". We didn't but apparently someone else did.

Ya, they went there.

That's like complaining about Top Gear because they don't review cars. It has to be funny and include explosions - that's all I ask of either show.

I came in here hoping that they actually tried to jump a shark, recreating that classic Happy Days episode. I haven't watched mythbusters in a while (no cable) but I do catch clips every so often and I was always a fan of the show. Sucks that they stooped.

On a side note... how sweet would it be if they actually jumped a mother fucking shark.

Mythbusters hasn't been that entertaining to me for a long while. I can't even remember the last time I watched it.

yeah they're not even testing REAL myths anymore. They're testing things like "Could a school bus be filled with jello and still run??"

i still watch the show on occasion, but i hate how they have filled it with crappy acting and costumes and all that crap. just do the myths/sayings and don't give me all that other BS. at first i liked that crap cause it was just them being themselves and it didn't seem scripted. now the whole show just feels so scripted it has lost a little bit of its charm.

I thought the "separating two interlaced phone books by force is impossible" myth was pretty cool.

Just like Dirty Jobs isn't so dirty any more. When you base a show of a finite resource, eventually the well is going to run dry.

I think it started sucking when they brought in the extra crew. They're fairly annoying.

They did the show with the exploding truck tires last year. I thought that was pretty good. My all time favorite is still the one where they launched the water heater.

Using the term "jumped the shark" has jumped the shark IMO.

To add more to the thread...

I think all shows at some point "jump the shark"

It's really not possible to be good forever.

American Chopper is a bastardized version of it's former self.

Back when Monster Garage was still on it also lost it's charm before ending.

Dirty Jobs, Survivor Man, Mythbusters, Man vs. Wild have all lost their appeal they had when they were new since they're now so well known and it's become so polished.

I still watch Mythbusters on a regular basis though and it's still very entertaining IMO.

I do like the new show Time Warp, even though it's basically a rip off of Mythbusters slow mo portion.

Mythbuster = Schtick + dork / Brainiac x REAL Science / Cute Girl(s) = Tired

Sorry, that Shark sailed long ago, to mix metaphors.

I still really like Survivorman. I don't think it has lost anything since it's really just 1 guy and his camera gear. I think Discovery just reruns the shows to death.

Dirty Jobs is OK, but only because of Mike. He seems to be able to make most scenarios entertaining.

American Choppers when downhill when Sr. and Jr. realized they were becoming famous and started increasing the antics to the point where they were obviously fake.

Only because the younger generation doesn't know about Happy Days. How about Nuke the Fridge instead?

American Chopper? Monster Garage? Those shows came flying out of the womb and sailed right over a shark tank.

And "you can't polish a turd" isn't a myth. Its a true fact.

I've liked this season of Mythbusters. Especially the one with the Phone Book and the alcohol one. Still a good show IMO.
