Mystery OS

Anybody know what this is? I'm assuming it's some kind of OS stub installed by an antivirus program. I'd like to identify it before proceeding with repairs. There are no splash screens or other identifying information that scrolled by off the screen:

I think it's AVG too. I believe some data on the HDD is corrupted and it's hanging this software. I'm going to see if I can force a disk check since smartctl doesn't see any problems with the disk. Maybe then I can get this thing booting up.
 
The drive has errors, but I can't get it out of read-only mode because it is hibernated. The only remedy I know for this is to delete hiberfil.sys. Does anyone else hate Fast Startup?
 
It seems like this AVG stub OS for lack of better term is fooling the routines put in place to detect a Windows boot failure, so basically I had to force it to shut down a couple times before it loaded to get to where Safe Mode was possible. It's on the way to better health now, lol
