Mystery CPU cooler

Does anyone recognize this rather strange CPU cooler. The metal box housing what looks like very good cooling fins is 4" x 4" x 4" with a 70 mm fan pulling air through the fins. It is on an old P4 478 pin CPU.

It doesn't have the usual lever mounts. I wish to remove it and would like to find the name of the manufacturer and the model number to see if there is an installation (uninstallation in my case) manual on net.

It looks like the screws hold down spring clip retention arms.
A couple of good macro shots from either side would help us see better detail.

There meant for server cases more then our case.

The newer heat pipe sinks would slaughter it.
 
Never seen the like, Fan looks like an addition or upgrade mod, looks like a trap.. thermalpaste may be glue.

Thanks for the replies. I am sure the fan came with the cooler. I know it looks tilted like it was not fitted to the cooler. But the flanges for the fan are at what I would judge to be a 15 degree slant and the fan is mounted firmly to them.

I don't think I can get a better photo, but will try. The obvious thing is to remove the two screws that show, but there is no spring or lever actuated mount visable at all. The screws are not to apply pressure to seat the cooler since they are dogged down full length and the unit they screw into is not flexible.

And yes, a heat pipe cooler will certainly do a lot better, which is why I want to remove it. Plus it sounds about like a vacuum cleaner when it is running.

You may have hit on it. I looked at the cooling fins inside the metal housing and they have exactly the pattern you show; some short vertical fins at the bottom and the larger horizontal fins at the top. I have never seen that arrangement of fins before, so it is likely the shroud was added to confine the airflow and to up the coolers effectiveness.
