Mysterious Floppy Activity?

My wife's computer's been acting up. Out of the blue, the floppy drive will start chattering, like it's checking to see if a disk is in there, or resetting or something. Goes on for 15-20 seconds, then stops.

Any ideas on how to stop this?

Here's the system configuration.

TIA

You got a virus. Its a virus that tries to spread itself by retransmitting its code across your devices and the network. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Fastfind? Is office loaded?

Go to run, type msconfig, take fastfind out of the startup group

You're not running some old version of Norton AntiVirus are you?

I've seen some systems running an old NAV start scanning the floppy out of the blue. Annoying.

One of the Unreal Tournament cracks on GameSpy had this virus in it, but I don't remember its name. Check Norton's website for it under their search bar. It could be findfast, but I doubt it. For your sake I hope its findfast.

could be find fast! try clearing your documents history as find fast might be checking for an old document that was on a floppy. if you do have find fast, suggest you stop it from loading in msconfig! it's a resource hog!

Update:

MadRat:
No virus..

I disable FastFind, and removed some other wasted software (MSN Messen. AOL IM, Gator) we'll see if that stops the crap.. :)
