Anyone playing this game yet?
I just started playing yestarday and wow, its beautiful.
Theres a new feature in the game. You have a "camera" and "projector" with you and can take ANY picture of what you see and later view them..... meaning, and i'm assuming here, that there will be certain puzzles that would really require visual images that will become useful throughout the game. Question is, what still "picture" would be important to take. I can only imagine the upcoming puzzles.

I dont remember which Myst I played years ago, but I couldn't get out of the first area and gave up. Those games make no sense to me at all.

wow. I'm at disbief. If you played Myst I and hated it, well I certainly don't blame you. I played part 1 ONCE. However, this was after I played and beaten Myst 2: Riven. Myst 1 sucked compared to the second, so I didn't bother. Part 2 evolved BIG time, than Myst III: Exile came out. Even better graphics, better movement and navagation.

Doesn't make sense? Are you kidding me? The game is a puzzle, if it doesn't make sense to you than its probably too smart for you. There is a story behind each Myst, and solving puzzles through worlds is the key. I remember when I played Myst 3 there was a long threaded post about where everyone was. I guess people just got too stupid from that time :)

thanks for the thread crap lol, give it a try...

I played Myst, Riven, and Myst III: Exile over this past summer. I played the demo of Myst IV and it looked nice. I hope to play Myst IV soon, if I have the time I might start playing this weekend.

i will give this to Myst, unlike other games coming out nowadays, Myst is not very buggy. I guess it's hard to mess up powerpoint (j/k)

i played the first myst, enjoyed it, but then realized i enjoyed running aorund and shooting things more then puzzles.

It's not that I couldn't accomplish anything or progress - it's that I couldn't force myself to care enough. No sense of urgency, no sense of rewarding, no nothing.

At that time, I believe I tossed it aside in favour of Resident Evil - which although completely lacking in plot, graphically sucking by comparision, and having the worst voice-acting outside anime, had my attention start-to-finish.

I think you people failed to realize that this game and these types of game are of a different genre. (Obviously). But when you bring up an example with Resident Evil...come on now, its a completely different conversation.

This is a game.....game as in puzzles....puzzles as in........stuff you need to think and accomplish, figure out, piece together. Rewards? the reward is to finish the G.A.M.E, thats the reward, not have the highest score or kills.

To each his own. But the way I view music taste, I view games as well, have an open mind...

Ditto for every other story-based game, even if it is a crappy story. Point is to finish it and see the ending. And then finish it again with the other character to get the real ending. See "Resident Evil 2". :p

You like Myst - I like killing things. At least we won't butt heads over Q3A vs UT at a LAN party. :)

I loved Myst I, didn't like Riven much though, maybe I'll have to see if I can get it running again.
Haven't played Exile or Revelation though, maybe I'll pick up Exile from the bargain bin somewhere :)

I had a choice between Myst4, Warhammer 40K and Rome : Total War.

I chose Rome Total War and I havent regretted it

I picked it up yesterday. Visuals are AMAZING, especially the lighting. Puzzles are seem to be significantly harder than Exile... there's a built in hint system though.

I played Myst I and loved it. Played Riven and it was good. Played III and it was kinda meh. I played that Uru: Ages Beyond Myst and didn't get very far into it. I got stuck on a level so I looked up the trainer guide for it. The stuff they wanted you to do was so damned lame and repetitive. Didn't bother finishing it. I guess I'll try out IV.

Has anyone gotten Myst 4 to successfully work with a 6800 series card? In the demo, I just get a blank gray screen (using the newest official drivers). The in-game menus work fine though. I do notice though, the configurator says it's an unsupported card, but previous geforce cards are ok. So maybe they just haven't updated the game to work with this card, but given the increasing popularity of the 6800 they sure ought to soon. Don't wanna buy the game until I'm sure it's going to work.
