Myst - a game that gets better over time?

Being blown away by the hype, I picked up Myst when it originally came out in 1993. After several frustrating hours of trying to figure out what the heck was going on, I deleted it, decided never to play it again, and sold it to another person (for a profit!).

Fast forward to about a month ago. I happened to come across a copy of RealMyst for cheap and said to myself, "Aww, why not get it? At least the pictures won't be static. So, I picked it up, installed it, and started playing.

And you know what? I LOVED IT! Sure, the controls were *really* bad for a first-person game, but I enjoyed the graphics, story, music, sound design, and especially the puzzles. As a big fan of the show Lost, I notice a lot of similarities/themes between it and the Myst universe. And on top of that, I was able to get answers to my questions in Myst *faster* than I do on Lost. 🙂

Maybe it's because I'm older and wiser, but I really think Myst is a great game. I'm now just starting on Riven and am quite excited over what I've seen so far. I wish I could explore it in 3D like RealMyst, but to be honest, the technology behind the game doesn't make it any better or any worse.

Thoughts? Comments?

I played Myst before and it was a very challenging game. Since then, I haven't got around to playing games anymore. Us, ole fellas try to do other things.
