<< Aim = No Encryption Vs Trillian = Encryption

You decide. Trillian for me! =)

encrypted?!? WTF?!? Are you gonna be talking about government secrets or something? You really think what you talk about over an instant messaging client is important enough to ENCRYPT?!? ROFL! gimme a break........

That's not a sentence MrCraphead! ;)

How is Trillian bloated? The messenger services you don't use you can just delete and edit the ini file and they won't load anymore. I think the stock ticker, AIM Today, games, talk, etc. are "useless" features. Well, at least to me they are. Those are all just subjective anyway. I am sure someone that uses ALL of those services think that's the best thing about Trillian.

Actually it is important for those who have companies monitoring the network. All my clients I use have encryption from email to chat clients etc. I rather have my conversations private then having some fewl reading my sh*t.:Q:)

Yes, by all means, remove the ad panel. We don't want AOL to keep providing this for free, do we?

Another no for trillian here. I dont know, i just didnt like the management of all the options and buddies. I'm used to AIM, i'll stick with it.

Also, when removing the ads, i'm left with just a large empty grey space where the ad used to be. Can i get rid of that?

The ads are all just for AOL anyway. No way I'm ever ever gonna be caught using AOL. Its like ciggarettes, never tried it, never will.
And if they do start charging, there's always trillian <g>

yet another vote for AIM+

the way i look at it, if you use multiple chat programs, use trillian.. if you just use AIM mostly, then download AIM+. it integrates well and adds a couple neat features. i don't see a reason to use the regular AIM by itself anymore. i used to like powerAIM... way back in the day.

count this as another vote for trillian... :D

i've been using trillian since it first came out (something like 2 years ago maybe?) and have never had a problem with it, except for the couple of weeks that AOL decide to be butth0les and started kicking off trillian users. for me, i was sick of having 3 different IM clients (that arent compatible with each other) open at the same time. i dont use the IRC portion... mIRC(IRCn) is the only way to go for that. i have yet to introduce it to someone who hasnt instantly fallen in love with it. for those of you who had bad experiences with it, find someone that uses it to help you get it all set up. trying to figure it out initially can be a little overwhelming...

i'm not an aol fan, nor will i ever. IRC is the way to go anyways...but it's WAY too addictive.

not to overly plug AIM+ but it reclaims the space taken up by the ads, the tabs, and the buddy list buttons, so really there's very little besides the absolutely necessary.

http://www.big-o-software.com has some screenshots of the bareness of the AIM window.

My ONLY problem with Trillian is that it doesn't sacve buddies on AOL servers..I reformat a lot, and that is the ONLY thing I always forget to backup....Still a great prog though..they said that they would have that fixed soon though
