this is one of the best sites that i have seen. it allows you to add various online accounts such as credit cards, bank accounts, stocks/funds, email accounts, and more (paypal, ebay, frequent flyer points, the list continues). If youre like me you have at least 4-5 different accounts with shortcut links on your browser. Now you can check them all at the same time on 1 site and get rid of those links.

myciti.com

i really recommend this site. it is free and makes life a lot easier.

EDIT: use yodlee.com instead of myciti because it is easier to use and gives a little more utility.

it is pretty cool. i have my mutual funds and frequent flyer accounts listed too! and you can just click on a particular account and it will launch a new browser window and log you into that particular website.

yodlee is another free site that consolidates financial, email, shopping, ebay, paypal, and many other accounts in one, easy-to-use format.

Hmmm...in the past year that I have been using Myciti, I haven't gotten a decent balance transfer offer from Citibank (I used to get them all the time)...makes me wonder if Citbank Visa is looking at my other accounts registered at Myciti.

I knew that logo looked familiar...Myciti is powered by Yodlee. I think I'll close the Myciti account and switch to Yodlee. Thanks.

At the risk of posting off topic, shouldn't it be theoretically possible to write your own HTML page that you store locally on your hard drive with the appropriate commands and passwords embedded in it to pull down all you account info. You could encrypt it locally with PGP or some such and have a pretty secure system with little risk. I recall automatically grabbing stock prices from Yahoo's quote engine in an Excel spreadsheet ages ago but I don't have info on how SSL sites process passwords etc.

I would love to have this functionality but my paranoia prevents me from typing all my account passwords into a site that may someday be hacked, or even worse decide to sell every financial transaction I make to any mass market spam merchant willing to cough up a few cents. Anyone know of a good tutorial in HTML that covers automated login and download of information in forms, or better yet shareware with this functionality?

i've used myciti since inception. It is yodlee. I did a in-person survey ($75) locally about the service. It works alright, and makes it easy to check all of my accounts at once.

Btw you gotta threaten Citi to get good rates, "retention department" is who you need to speak to. My Citibank is prime+0.9% now with 5.9% BT (go figure) i did ask for those rates. More like i demanded them.

Thanks everyone for your comments about MyCiti and yodlee, I think for now I'll pass and continue going directly to my bank/cc's website to check the account activity. Yes it would be nice to have it all consolidated but I'm just to paranoid about CitiBank having access to all that account info, not to mention potential security loopholes.

Citibank has always insisted to me that they have no 'Balance Transfer' department, or 'Specialized Services' department, and they claim that the regular Customer Service department has access to all balance transfer offers. Glad to hear otherwise - I will ask for the Retention Department next time I call. Thanks.

That's what I mean - no decent rates. I have a 1.9% (non-intro) expiring soon, and looking for a place to transfer it to. Citibank hasn't budged from the 7.9% that they recently offered me; I can get 3.7% elsewhere.

Not to metion that they (c2it) also have your SSN right there waiting to be hacked along with the est of your financial life. As an alternative to the online financial portal, you might check out the lastest versions of MS Money Deluxe and Quicken Deluxe, Both have all the same features offered by myciti.com and the info is stored locally on your own computer and accessable and transferrable (manually or automatically) into your accounts .

I did alot of the server/infastructure engineering for the MyCiti.com site.

Yodlee back end (engine) with a Citibank front end (content, images, logos, etc) - That's it.

Citibank as a whole and the Citibank Card Services group have NO interaction or "WINDOW" into the system. It's simply a service the bank wanted to provide to its customers. Anyone can use it (I do) and at a root level, its safe. We did many ethical hack audits and things of that nature on Yodlee before sticking the "Citi" brand name on it and it passed muster. You are correct about assuming if it is "Citibank", its safe. I do alot of work in security and no other company is as anal-retentive or strict about the security standards. Your data is safe (for now).

...Hmmm from my personal and professional legal experience I would say that this is a naive view of Citibank and their financial system woes. Citibank's systems are some of the most frequently hacked systems in the financial community. (Check their quaterly SEC filings) . The difference between say a Paypal and Citibank is that Citibank can absorb and thus cover-up most system intrusions from the public whereas a venture capital financed company such as PayPal can be seriously affected and may not survive buy such intrusions. If anything ,Citibank is more prone to hacking that some other due to its standing in the financial community and such bold security statements in their advertising . Hackers tend to concentrate thei effort on companies that make such claims. In either case, no insurance offered by Citibank or any other financial instutition can compensate you for the countless hours of aggravation spent recovering what they allowed to get stolen. In the case of myciti.com they explicitly state on their site that they will not even be responsible for such intrusions even it it is deemed that the intrusion is completely their fault. They assume 0 liability for the imformation stored on the myciti.com site. There is rarely a week that goes by were you di not see an article where some financial instution has been conprimised .You also might want to check out this recent thread.

I've used Yodlee for about 1 year now - no problems. Whenever there is a technical support issue, they respond to my emails. Great free service.

Yahoo!, however, has a new service called "Money Manager". This is almost the same thing as Yodlee (all accounts on one page) - has anyone tried this? Which is better? I wouldn't mind converting to Yahoo since I use my.yahoo daily.

Thanks In Advance

I have been using Myciti for over a year and have had no issues about safety. I would be more worried about Windows and browser security than about Myciti/Yodlee security, if I was using a PC. I didn't read the fine print, but Yodlee apparently offers $100,000 automatic insurance against unauthorized access. I would practice good security/password measures, but wouldn't be particularly concerned about this site's security.

I signed up with Yodlee a few days ago and my impressions so far are that 1) Yodlee allows you to select from a far larger universe of accounts than does Myciti 2) Yodlee presents more information on a single page than Myciti 3) Yodlee shows recent credit transactions without having to log in to your credit card accounts individually and manually - nice feature 4) Yodlee is slower at refreshing than Myciti, but it does so automatically upon logging in...Myciti requires a manual refresh when logging in, to get the latest updated info. I'll be closing my Myciti account when I finish setting up my accounts with Yodlee.

I've been using Yodlee for nearly two years now... I think its absolutely great. I have no worries about the security of my data (although perhaps I should...) But anyways, lately there has been a "$100,000 protection" image on Yodlee's site, haven't looked into what it means though.
