I used to spend/ beg for crazy amounts of money on pc hardware...then I bought a mac.
I don't really know what happened. It seemed to sway me towards other stuff....software and networking.
I even ended up giving most of my other stuff away (2 3ghz pcs, servers, video cards, sound cards, etc).
All I have now besides my networking equipment is my mac and an old server for NAS.

It's weird. I tried playing half-life the other day and it was nice and all but it didn't do anything for me.
Maybe I'll get a nice pc later this year and try again.

It's commendable that you've decided to take the appropriate steps to, in your eyes, better yourself and improve your life. However, the OP apparently has as well (regarding the gym membership), he's just not quite as far along.

As for the whole internet phenomenon--I never have, nor never will, see that as an excuse for being an ass. There's simply no valid reason for it when you can get the same point across, and likely have it appreciated to a higher degree, by making the statement sans the ass-iness.
