I just wanted to gloat. This thing is so incredibly awesome it makes me grin. I don't think I hit the limit yet even, I remember when I first put it in, I had it running 10x280 stock vcore and it got to windows, just crashed when it loaded to desktop.

Can you say 3GHz on air?

or maybe not. F@H keeps crashing at both 9x300 and 10x270. can get into windows easily enough, posting this right now at that speed. Fvcking like I hit a brick wall. wondering if its my PSU, its only a 400 watt antec. Taking it back down to 10x260, +.075vcore.

Wow, that's awesome man! I was thinking of getting a 3800+ but I've since fallen in love with Opteron 170s. Your chip gives me second thoughts though.

my seem to have a limit at 2650, even on 1.55V it can't run 2700 stable, and I'm not going to increase it to more.

400W Antec? Definitely a possiblity, especially if it's not a recent model.

I'd recommend a 520W OCZ or one of those new Enermax Liberty PSU's (the 500W model should be adequate).

Calm down and try a few hours prime.. Most these chips can post @ 3ghz..getting them to run 24/7 is another matter entirely.

Yeah, I think it is possibly the PSU. Totally stable at 2600 with .05 vcore over, but even 1.5 won't get me 2700. W/e, I'm happy with it the way it is, I might tinker a bit later.

well, my second x2 3800 is down to 2400, and don't know if its stable. Locked up at 2450, 1.475 vcore 450 Antec in a Sonata II after 30 minutes. wouldn't go 2550 at 1.5v for even 5 seconds, wouldn't finish booting. It sucks compared to my other one, and I have a better PSU. Motherboard is a chaintech VNF4 ultra, thats a good one, right ?

Most of the X2s hit a wall after 1.45 Vcore. Anything above that will give you REALLY LOW diminishing returns. My X2 could pass p95 all day at 1.45 2.64GHZ, but once I hit 2.7 GHZ, it started failing the test after a couple of hours even with Vcore increased to 1.5. ANything above 1.5 and the temps went crazy.

Yes, but I can only get 2400 at 1.475 vcore ! Thats just about the worst I have seen.

Ah, quit whining. I've got a 4200+ that appears to be a dud overclocker. I can't even squeeze a 10% OC out of it without Prime crashing in a second or two, at least with the 10x and 11x multipliers. I may try again with the 9x. But I'm really leery of overvolting the X2s at all.

2.6 stable is still very nice, and don't be too dissapointed if it's the limit.

I honestly don't know. The epox temp sensor reporting is totally borked. It says its loading at like 75C, but I KNOW thats not right. It would have crashed before then...
