Hey, been working a little with 3d max in my special projects class in High School, wanted to know what you guys thought of it do far, its just a building thing. Take a Look

Here It is

Sorry guys, its 1600 x 1200

Not bad, how about some modern art paintings on the left wall w/ the 3 lights? is this of a real building?

Doesn't look bad. Not enough contrast, imo, the left wall blends in too much with the back wall. But that could also be because of the quality of the picture.

Very nice, but then again, very idealistic. Behaps try to change the lighting and textures to add a more "realistic" tone. The envirmoental "skeleton" is done. Now you have to start working on the hard stuff😀

Good luck!

yeah, its the realistic textures I have problems with, see we dont have a teacher that knows 3d max, so we are learning on our own

Looks nifty. If those are doors in the back, they should be taller, because it makes it seem like each stair is 1 foot tall.

Nice modelling skillz, though.
Are you gonna make the textures more detailed or leave it as it?

yeah, like I said, Im starting to work on the textures now, but we have no teacher, so we are reading outta the books. But all the walls and stairs i did in autodesk Architectual Desktop and imported it, that makes it so much easier

Some suggestions from my friend...

1- any material that is a flat color has to go. Either add some texture or color variation to it.
2- the railing looks like a map on a 2D plane. Give it some depth.
3- enable shadows on ALL lights.

Rerender and repost. 🙂

alright, Ill start there

nice stuff for a high schooler. I knew i wasnt banging out stuff like that in high school. Either cause i sucked or cause computers really werent good back then.

Anyways, some crits from someone who's been in 3d for a while: your reflections are all over the place, and so is your lighting. focus the lighting on the objects... as in put your bojects under the lights. top down lighting doesnt provide for very good shadows.

but tweaking light is an art within itself. so keep at it

very, yeah, Im not too into the whole making people scene, it looks like it could get very complicated. I want to try and work with cars, but again, with no formal teaching, it will be very difficult

the bottom of the stairs look akward.

but good work. looks like something from the SIMS.

and you're in high school? schools in other states sure make NYC public school looks so barbaric...
