my wireless plays up

Hi. My wireless internet on my laptop used to work fine..then i decided to install security on the router... which also worked fine. My brother decided to take this security off because it wouldnt work with his, but now mine is starting to play up. This is what it does....

It will say it is connecting, but it actually is connected, despite the little icon showing that their is no connection or signal etc. I usually use remote desktop and this works fine, but after about 10 minutes it always disconnects and I have to go back and click the connect button... remote desktop will then start working again (even though it says that the network isnt connected and that the little icon is not on the connected icon)...

Does anybody have any ideas?

The client computer has to match the Router, if one computer works with the security Off all other comouter security should be Off too.
 
Yeh mate and my computer is set up now to not use any security.. so the settings are all correct.. weird hey
