what would i do with 6 acres of land?!?

we have been house hunting for a month now, today we looked at 5 houses, the last one we went to, she really likes the house

it is a good deal and the house is very large, but the 6 acres is more than i had planned on, and it isn't just lawn/grass, there is a field where the people had 3 cows, so it is pretty much a farm, just no large barn

shees, i grew up on a farm, i don't know if i want to take care of 6 acres, and with that much land it would be a shame not to use it for something

gonna have to think about this , hmmm.... :clock:

Come on. Why the fvck would you want a lawn when you can have 6 acres of wilder vegetation? You must have no imagination.

a friend of ours also suggested letting a "real" farmer use the back field for something like that

and there is definetly room for a go cart track, we could run it around the lagoon, it isn't quite level though, i would probably have to get some dirt

That's smaller than our yard. How are you going to raise anything on that?

turn the 6 acres into a massive skid pad where you can set up road courses! And its good if its not perfectly level...you can have off camber turns!

You know you want to. Imagine, taking your car to the skid pad and just going balls out around plyons. Set up a slalom course, a drag strip, whatever.

well, i guess that is my question, do i just let it grow wild and mow it twice a year
or is there some way to use a small patch of ground in a useful way?

i would prefer to avoid animals, you can't leave animals alone

my dad has an orchard, i could get him to plant it out with something, but orchards take a lot of work too, spraying, pruning, picking the fruit

i dunno

Option #1) tell your wife that f she is willing to mow the lawn you will get the place
Option #2) salt the land or cover it in asphault

i agree. if you dont have any pracitcal purpose for it, dont get it. itll just end up being a PITA.

dont fall into the quaint country home/ranch trap unless thats what you really want. its just a lot of work. IMO, home is where you relax, not another job.

Grow grass on it and mow it regularly. Or get sheep/goats to keep it neat for you.

What would you do? How about enjoy the peace and quiet. Not have to see and hear your neighbors everyday. Have enough privacy to crap in your yard, or walk around naked. Have a great yard to raise kids, and build them a kick-ass tree fort.

You should Just buy a town house..

my dad bought the field behind his house (about 3.5 acres in town). He lets a guy farm it, and dad gets a % of the profit. It basically pays the taxes on the land and a bit to boot.

What a world we live in. 6 acres is considered too much? A farm?

I swear humans won't be happy until they have every last inch of the earth covered in concrete and steel highrise buildings.

Not to say this house is the fit for you, FoBot. Just the comments...

Check the zoning, see if it can be divided for multiple lots. That opens up another whole new world of possibilities for now or later.
