Saw this Krups 10 cup rice cooker that has a slow cooker option. Two products she has been wanting. She is Japanese like 5 years in the US now...loves rice. I like it a bit but a dozen or so bites and I am done.

She said 'This is my #1 christmas present now' when she saw it.

For $80 bux or so IIRC, I get off cheap. She also wants a fondue maker, but not until we move (cabinet space).

She is too practical though, she has been looking at perfumes so I think I will buy her a couple of those too. Perfume was not on her list...

the rest:
Starbucks gift cards

piglet socks (these are not with piglet on them, but the fluffy soft and striped socks out this year)

MAC Powder Foundation color C4

long sleeve t-shirt pajama small (pink, yellow, or red)

Simple Start battery booster http://www.amazon.com/Decker-BB7B-Simple-Battery-Booster/dp/B000H774BY

portable TV / hand generator radio

Black High Top Converse Chuck Taylors, size 6

Do you two already have Netflix? Since you got off easy on the main gift you could give her a subscription and say that she gets to pick the movies :)

It's also something that takes up no room since you mention moving.

actually netflix and satellite radio are two things my brother though we were insane not to have.

We own almost 500 CD's....about 1/5 that in DVD's and growing. We rent about 5 DVDs a week. Our favorites we buy...it's a collection I guess.

anyway the chick always gets to pick the movies (DVD anyway when you are in a relationship and not dating) really...if you overrule her she will be in bed asleep before you :)

I bought the Sirius unit for my Excelon 990....hoping someone buys me a sub this year (hoping my brother covers that). I wish I got in for the free sirius units a couple years back and just held on to them. Still $99 + $12/month isn't bad for picking exactly the music you want to listen to and no commercials. I try to listen to my favorite radio stations and so often my whole commute is a few songs and MOSTLY ads/DJ's talking about things I should check out and buy in my neighborhood.

Rice cookers are pretty useful though, you can also cook veggies in em. Maybe she just really likes cooking? Some people think of it as a chore they have to do, so for them it'd be a crappy gift. But maybe for your wife it's something she enjoys doing, so even though it's a "practical" gift for you, for her it's something that she'd really enjoy using.

I got something in that category for my wife as well (can't post it here, she reads these forums :p), but I also got her something she can take around with her and use a lot more often, something that's baby-related that I know she'll really appreciate.

What self respecting Asian would want a rice cooker made by Krups?

At least get her a National. & if you want to make her really happy, get a Zojirushi from . NewEgg

Slow cookers are a dime a dozen, just scare one of those up when they're on sale.

My wife wants either kitchen stuff, video games, or that Star Wars FX light saber (she loves those things!)

My wife is 29, she's an ex-punk and pretty much a hippie granola type. Occsaionally she'll dress up, and she's been using the same makeup from her mother's Mary Kay samples that she found when she was 16 or so... yes really..
Anyway, I recruited her sisiter to give me instruction and bough t ton of new makeup and a nifty makeup kit box to keep it in.

:)

So, OP, get her the nicer rice cooker, and put a nice gemstone ring inside for her...;) Let her think she's only getting kitchen appliances...till she opens it...
FTW!

my wife loved to rent movies as well

but never returned them on time, nevermind blockbuster had a lousy selection and shed spend an hour there to rent garbage or the same thing she saw a couple of months ago.

netflix saved money and brought decent movies into my home. and kept me out of blockbuster for 7 hours a month.

i spent 3 weeks ealier this year watching all of arrested development at once....i love netflix

I know my wife...she loves to cook. I know she is practical. Others sometimes comment on my gifts though.

WTF? rice cooking is easy, doesn't need a 3 figure pricetag. Also like in Japan, we are living on a small amount of space. I like the apartment though.

I think her hair dryer I use is National branded.

The GF wanted a diamond ring & ear rings to match for her December birthday & X-mass. I ended up buying a mossanite ring & ear ring, because I couldn't get her a new house before year end (I haven't found a house that I like).

I'm surprising my SO with the first three seasons of that show, Absolutely Fabulous, that used to be on the BBC. I don't think she has any idea.

Jojirushi makes all price ranges...just the original link was to a $124.00 one.

Both my wife and I are practical - usually... new kitchen appliances this year for Christmas. Except, now that we've spent a few grand on appliances, plus are about to remodel every square inch, she's dropping hints at a very nice ring for xmas.
