It is probably a few pennies a day (especially if you include summer AC bills to cool down the heat generated). And it is a potential hazzard. You are there unplugging your cell phone anyways so it isn't like you have to go out of your way. I wouldn't recommend unplugging most things, but since you are already there unplugging, why not just save the money and get the added safety?

My parents do not unplug everything and have owned and lived in their current house for over 30 years. We've never had a saftey issue with it, or a problem. My cell phone charger is plugged in behind my dresser. I would have to move it every time i needed to charge my phone.

A few pennies a day going around unplugging everything i use on a daily, or every other day, basis is not not worth it to me. I highly doubt the heat generated from my cell phone charger is going to make a difference in how often my AC has to cool the house down. LOL.

You should unplug your cell phone charger when it isn't charging - why pay all that money when it does you nothing?

:p

Good for him. Doesn't have any affect whatsoever on me though. It would take me 7,671 years to save $2.8 million if i saved a penny a day. (if my math is right, lol). whoopie!

I leave my PC running 24/7. I leave my PS2 running 24/7 even when my TV isn't on. And I never ever unplug anything unless I am throwing it away.

Yep, if I was worried about the power bill being higher, I'd leave my computer and monitor unplugged. I'd have to move the nightstand we use by the front door to get to those plugs regularly (although I guess I could just flip the switch that they're plugged into as mentioned earlier, heh).

How much could you save if you unplugged your TVs?

As far as leaving your PC on 24/7, there was a woman here who was killed last week when her house burned down because her PC was left on and caught on fire while she was asleep. I've heard of other stories too. I've always preached in the past that it's better to turn your PC's off, but for other reasons.

I've learned something important from this thread too.

<-- Off to find a redhead GF.

My ex girlfriend would do the craziest sh*t. I would leave for work and she would be at my house all day chillin. Well, when I come home later, my room is rearranged, everything is dusted and cleaned, nothing is where I left it, bills and sh*t have been thrown out and clothes are in different drawers.

She would almost b*tch everyday about my shavings in the sink after I shave and about all kinds of little sh*t like that.

And she had all these extra pillows on her bed for decorations and every time I would jump on her bed and mess it up she got pissed off. It was ridiculous.

Just tell her that when you plug it back in, all that electricity has to now rebuildup in the device and that might cause the wires to over heat with it all rushing in. ;)
