My WD 80GB HD is officially dead I guess

It won't show up in My Computer at all, I tried changing IDE cables, there is no bent pins, and I tried using Ontrack EasyRecovery Professional software to get back my data. It sees the 80GB HD, but it can't find any files in it, and I know there's like 50-60GB of files in the HD. This sucks so much!!!!

Yeah...a backup plan sucks too.... Oh wait.....a back up woul dhave made this trivial.

Not trying to pick on you, but Hopefully, you implement some form of backup once you have a new drive up and running.

Having a backup is as easy as buying one of the new Maxtor or WD external drives, buying backup software off the shelf, or if you have a plain jane external drive, or a second machine - l learn how to write a small batch file that will copy all your important stuff to another storage resource.

That's what I do anyway.....take's mere moments to write a batch file and click on it every few days or so.... or put it in your startup.
