I think for now I will stick with my gf's 5D and buy glass, but if we break up and/or she starts using it regularly and I need my own.... 5D mkII/7D here I come 😀

I think it's a bit ridiculous to bother switching systems between Canon/Nikon if you already have good glass.

There really isn't going to be such a huge difference that I can imagine it being worthwhile.

i think he's got multiple systems

Just Canon and Nikon. Sony's lens lineup (besides the fast CZ glass) isn't very exciting.

As I've said elsewhere Sony have been very careful all along not to call the A900 a Pro camera even whilst saying that it's capable of Pro results.

I would be interested to know what equipment you think is lacking for it though if we assume (as is believed to be the case) that the A900 is inclined more towards studio/landscape type work rather than sports?
e.g. taken from earlier in this thread as a wish list:

EF 16-35 F2.8L
EF 24-70 F2.8L IS
EF 70-200 F2.8L IS
EF 35 1.4L MkII"
Equivalents for all of those exist in Sony (or are about to be released), it's got a decent flash system (albeit Nikon's is probably the best still unless the A900 & the new 58AM flash have as yet unknown features) even without considering 3rd parties like Metz etc.
