Well, I sold my 22inch LCD for a 22inch CRT...some may think "Why?"...simple reason...it was cheap ($40), brand new, better picture and a LOT higher resolution (1680x1050 LCD vs. 2048x1536/1920x1080 CRT). When I first installed the monitor Windows 7 Pro x64 immediately recognized it my monitor as what it is...a Dell P1110 CRT. Well, I was forced recently too reinstall Windows...again same OS, Windows 7 x64...this time however my monitor is not being recognized what so ever...its being seen as a Generic Non-PnP Monitor...max resolution is 1600x1200. Granted I can change the max resolution in the ATi Control Panel, which works for the desktop but all my games only recognize the "default" resolution of 1600x1200.

My questions are is that how can I get my PC to recognize my monitor for what it is? It worked the fist time I plugged it in my PC on my old Windows installation. Ive tried using the drivers that I can find for my monitor but none of them work cause theyre all written for Windows 98/2000 and just arent working on Windows 7 at all...so basically, whats the deal here? Any one have any advice or anything I can do? Like I said ATi CCC can change my desktop resolution, but nothing else can see the max resolution.

Thanks for any help that can be given!!!

OK...so I go to Device Manager and install the Generic PnP Monitor driver instead...no good...still same 1600x1200 resolution and it would appear now as though not even ATi CCC can change my resolution...very odd...

Could it be an issue with the monitor perhaps?

That is normal to set it as non generic plug and play

You must install your monitor driver and it should be built into win Seven

Soo go to advanced and update driver and choose let me choose browse driver, then on left choose Dell and on the right choose your model. Then your done. You should have all your resolutions now. Let me know if your stuck somewhere.. gl

OK...I did choose driver again and unchecked "Show compatible hardware" and found the Dell P1110 driver, installed it, but still the same old stuff...max resolution can only be 1600x1200, and I even restarted my PC to no avail. Screen resolution screen still only sees it as VGA device...doesnt see it as a Dell P1110 although device manager.

Did you try to set up your own resolution in Ati Catalyst controll?

Go to Catalyst controll center, go to Desktops and displays, right click on your monitors little arrow and chose configure.
Then UNcheck monitor attributes and punch in your monitors res and refresh rate.

Make sure you put in the exact res and refresh rate your monitor supports!!!

Hope this helps

Yeah, I can do that for the desktop, but all my games still recognize the max resolution of my monitor as 1600x1200. Like I said, the drivers are installed, atleast the ones that came with Windows 7...very odd...

Actually, no after checking, even ATi CCC won't allow me to go above 1600x1200...this is getting kinda annoying...

No body have any thing else? Like I said, Dell P1110 driver is loaded but literally has not changed anything...how is Windows going to release non-working "Digitally Signed" drivers that dont do anything? Whats the point?
