Take the fan off, get a small case fan for a few dollars, use zip ties (the kind in the auto section) to zip the case fan against the gpu of the vid card. . . - free extension for minimul fuss . . .

I've been running a geforce ti 3 this way for over a year . . .

oil the fan... if that don't work... Buy a new friggin video card... if that don''t work, check out a sunset.

Why buy something new when it can be rigged so easily? On the oil part if you try that, peel way the white label over the center of the fan, drop one drop of machine oil in the hole that should be there, use a little round sticker like you find in an office supply store to recover the hole. Usually this is only a temp fix. . .

hmmm... trip to fry's in the works?

or maybe over to directron... they're more on the way...

so how would you know it's dying besides the fan (and obvious no picture on the monitor)? loud hissing sounds? rackety rack rack coming from the tower?

My first GPU powered card (Bless that 256 Pro) ran for 2 years with no fan before it finally overheated and died :brokenheart:

All of them, as long as the specs are >= those on the current one. (peel the sticker)

i like quiet ones. that computer was damn near silent before the fan started crapping out.
