My very pleasant experience with the 'Geek Squad' today

Wow, that's bad. I always looked at putting ram in a laptop like putting gas in a car. It's something that everyone knows how to do(well you would think at least on this forum) In fact my GF's mom just upgraded her laptop's memory the other day. She did it herself.

Well, it depends... I had an HP that just had a cover slide out and then the memory go in at an angle, easy as pie. to change the memory in my GF's thinkpad, however, involved gutting half of the freaking thing. As much of a geek I am, it's a hard judgement call ripping apart a multiple thousand dollar machine when you knwo if you screw something up it WILL cost a ton of money.

What model Thinkpad is it? The ones I've had experience with (T-series) just have a panel on the bottom to replace the memory.
