My upgrade finally arrived. A few questions

I finally decided to move out of the stone age and upgrade my Athlon classic 500 to an XP 1600.

Now that the parts have arrived I have a couple questions for those whose system building experience is more recent than mine.

1) Since I'm giving away my old CPU+MB, I bought another case to put it into. The new case is an Enlight with/ 300W power supply that is amd approved to the XP1600 only. My old case (Inwin A500) has a sparkle 300W PS that is rated to an XP 1900, which makes me think I might want to reuse it -- BUT it also has almost 2 years worth of wear on it. What PS would be a better choice to power my XP1600?

2) I chose the WBK68 as the cooling fan for my XP, since I'm not really planning on overclocking, and I want a quiet(er) system. It comes with the phase-change glop on it. Back in the day, I used radio shack thermal compound instead of the pad -- is this still a good idea or is the thermal pad better nowadays? I'm not going to buy arctic silver for a single non-overclocked CPU. :)

heh, You can always tell who the cheap upgraders are, my new system stats will be :

AthlonXP 1600
Epox KT266a MB
256mb Crucial PC2100
Voodoo3 3000 (!)
On-board sound (!) (Was still using a Gravis UltrasoundPNP, great card, but is an ISA card. R.I.P)

even if it has 2 years of wear it wont have less juice! PLUS if its rated for a 1900 it will def. have enough for a 1600 plus! :p

either power supply should work fine and the thermal pad is fine to if you don't plan on overclocking.
