<< In the last week my year old 27" Wega has developed an intermittent high pitched whine/buzz. It sounds a lot like a hearing aid when they start whining. It will whine for 30 seconds or so, & then stop. It is not coming from the speakers, you can mute the TV & it will still do it, & the volume controls have no effect whatsoever. Turning off the TV makes the noise stop.

Anybody know anything about TV's? Is mine hosed?

UPDATE:

Nutdotnet still had the receipt, & it's under warranty until February 8th! Woohoo, my ass is saved!

Are you talking about high-pitched sound from TV set that is almost at the upper limit of your hearing?

It comes from flyback transformer(generates high voltage for CRT) and it is normal unless its getting too loud.

It's become quite loud in the past week (TV was nearly silent before), I made my brother shut it off yesterday - it was hurting my ears.
