My screen is only 76" because that's all that will fit in my room plus if I were to mount my screen, it is also 76".

Need4Speed has you pretty covered with his list there.

Check out http://www.projectorcentral.com/ for info on a bunch of different models and what's hot for different applications in the upper left there.

Also, AVSforum and Hometheaterforum are great resources.

His is a 720p LCD projector. I have a 480p DLP projector.

Mine can be had for about $800 or so depending on if you get a deal.

I'm not sure how much he paid for his, but I think they go for around $1700 or so?

That is a great setup. I'm thinking of doing the same type combo setup with a 700ae/900ae with pulldown screen and a Panasonic plasma when I get moved in.

I had my 42" plasma mounted behind my 16:9 133" diaganol screen when I moved into my new house, but I found I never used it. Everytime I went in, day or night, and I had the option of 42" or 133" I flipped the switch for the screen.

I ended up moving the 42" plasma to my bedroom and love it there. I actually use it much much more often.

I had planned on that as well, but I find that I just dont watch much SD on the projector. and i dont want to have to watch tv in the bedroom everytime i want to watch a SD show.

thankfully that's not my wreck. I host that album for a friend of mine....the short end of it is that he and his buddies were ripping through some back roads on a saturday morning. As he was leaning through one of the corners, he caught some sand and the back wheel came out from under the bike...the rest is history. luckily he had his leathers on, and aside from some bumps and bruises, and a hurt ego, he was fine. he has since rebuilt the bike and is back to being an a$$hole on two wheels. :frown:

Must have cost him a bit to fix it. At least he was smart and had leathers on.......

yeah...good deal too. was just toying with the idea of grabbing that for another room or as a gift for one of my friends. I've been wanting to compare the AE700 to a DLP...this would have been a good time.

I was trying to figure out what you mean by "would have" and then I saw it sold out sometime between when I posted and now. Oh well.

just finished "batman begins" ... what a great movie. certainly much better than all the the other attempts. not to take anything away from micheal keaton, but this is the way it should have been done in the first place...darker...less comic book like. kudos...this one makes my replay list.

I like the wall color and that is a sweet setup. Batman Begins was awesome -- I expected so much less.

Awesome !
Seems to me that you really need to get rid of that drop-ceiling, get some 2x4's, insulation, sheetrock and finish that room off real nicely.

I'm gonna do the same thing soon, and was thinking of making the area under the basements stairs the subwoofer enclosure... lol

the dropped ceiling has its advantages...like making it easy to route wires, or getting access to the joists for hanging things. there is all kinds of duct work up there too, that hangs below the joists...so those would have to be extended. more trouble than its worth...besides i just finished the room not too long ago.

here is what I started with:

Very nice, I can't wait to get a bigger house so I can do this as well.

Also for a nice universal remote, look into the Logitech Harmony series. I have the 659 and love it.

i had the harmony for a while, and while it is nice I dont much care for the webased programming of the remote. I also found myself running in circles when I wanted to change something.

awesome setup. one question though...what are the benefits of an infinite baffle sub as opposed to a sealed or ported sub? is the bass still hard and quick or is it boomy?

It can offer some of the best bass available - flat and strong.

OP - nice work on the sub. Do you have any response graphs at your listening position or are you still tuning?

I was still tuning, but got a little sidetracked with some things around the house. I have to drag my pc back down there and generate some graphs with truerta one of these days. I will post them once I do so...if I had a line-in on my laptop this would be some much easier. The hassle is getting the pc down there...not the acutal measurement.

Having had both a ported and the IB, I'd say the overall nod goes to the IB...much less intrusive, less distortion, and to my ear it sounds much flatter than the ported ever did. I wouldn't have used the word boomy to describe my DIY ported sub, but when compared to the IB thats the only way I can describe the ported box.

Given the choice, I would take the IB over the ported anytime I had the room to do so. the downside of course that I can't be changing my mind about placement.

I determined the best place for the IB (I had two walls to choose from..the left wall when facing the IB vents into a storage room) by moving my ported sub around and running sweeps while taking readings from the listening position...then choosing the best curve.

I'm working on a HT room too right now! Can't wait until mine is done. sanding and painting and spackling and calking and new carpeting and all that junk is just taking forever.
