It was one of those cream filled ones; i didn't want to taste it to find out which in particular because we were having breakfast at work and didn't want to get full.

lol.. guess my sarcasm meter is working

Edit:
It is illegal to park an unregistered car on the street in Maryland:

(or in an apartment or condominium complex parking lot)

So I guess that is why they're allowed to tow it.

i knew a post of this sort was coming...

(1) in maryland there's no sticker on your windshield.

(2) MD has stickers on your license plate to show that your registration is up-to-date (which mine is). the MVA nulled my registration without notification. by looking at my car, there's no way to know that the registration is invalid.

It really was hit by a donut . I hope it was just some random bored kids and not someone specifically targeting my car.

I doubt it was towed for that reason. Call the tow company and find out who requested the towing of your car. They have to document the reason they towed your care in case of disputes.

pretty much what i did when my car disappeared out of my old apartment complex. the office said they didnt have it towed, the towing company said they didnt tow it but neighbors saw one of his trucks tow it out of the complex. found a private lot of the owners, went and saw my car sitting there. called the cops, identified the car and they still did nothing. finally got the owner of the tow company on the phone with police, they said the paperwork was still being processed, and it was towed as being abandoned. the police rolled over and told me to pay the fees. i even had a letter from the complex management stating they didnt request it to be towed, i had made a deal with them to let me keep it in the lot while i was rebuilding it. when i went back to get my car and pay their extortion fees, they said the car was stolen off their lot and filed a police report for a stolen vehicle. i got screwed bad. hes still in business, i check on him once in a while. one day ill find my retribution.

:Q

Dirty... have his car towed maybe??? :p

i still remember how i felt being chased off his lot by him and 2 of his friends wielding sticks and crowbars. a bit more than towing his car is deserved. but, now i have 3 kids and a reason not to do anything. hes no longer in the tow business tho, so thats a good thing. oddly he still has plenty of action with all those cars coming and going off his lots.

I think you meant to say "there's no way to know that your emissions is valid or not" by looking at the car... the tags are your registration, as you stated :)

Actually, when are we suppose to do emissions? I thought it's every two years.

Sounds almost as bad as a guy who got his car repo'ed months after it had been paid off because the bank screwed up. The guy ended up having a lawyer threaten the tow company to get his car back. (even though he show'ed the tow truck driver the pink slip)

At least they didn't do what some asshole tow truck driver did to a neighbor of mines truck. He has his truck slammed and there is no way a tow truck can get the vehicle when its frame is sitting on the ground. I watched this unfold live in person. Tow truck driver used a freaking crow bar to pry the front bumper up enough so that he could put his drag cable onto something and proceeded to pull the truck up onto his flatbed. I went out and moved my truck infront of the tow truck and blocked him as the owner of the truck getting towed was coming out of his apt. The tow truck driver claimed that the apt complex called him because the truck was "damaged" as he pointed to the fvcked up bumper, and that it was over the fire lane stripe. I conveniently locked my keys in my truck as the other guy called the cops.
In the end, the cops showed up charged the tow truck driver with vehicular theft (as he had the other guys truck completely off the ground) and vandalism, and carted him off to jail. The city tow truck came buy and picked up his tow truck.
So if you have cool cops they hate tow truck drivers just as much as the rest of us.

Towing companies and the people working for them are in my mind, generally the scum of the Earth. I hate them to hell.

So now that your car is flagged as "stolen" after you get your car back if some cop runs your plates will he treat you like you stole the car?

Haven't you ever heard of someone's car being towed due to unpaid parking tickets?

I also believe the reason cops won't help you unless it's so blantant is that the city gets a cut out of cars towed (if it's a private towing comp). If your car is towed in my town you have to pay a processing fee at the police dept then you can head over to the tow place to get your car. But the cops get paid first
