My trip to Ireland

Just got back last week from my vacation in Ireland, and I have finally readjusted to the time change. Had a lot of fun over there, and took a decent amount of pics. I really wish I had more time to see all of Ireland, because I was only able to stay in the southwest portion of the island. If anyone ever goes over there be sure to try some http://www.bulmers.ie/ . I'm disappointed that I didn't get to visit the Jameson distillery, but I think I may on my next trip over.
Anyway here are some of the pics I took. Enjoy!

I think I went to this one. First town we stayed in after driving south from Dublin. Has a river running through it. Long tour through the place and they had some lame art exhibit in the basement.

edit - Yup, just checked some pics and thats the same place. We stayed at a shitty hostel the night before, then get out of town after the tour. The pictures are from the collection where I managed to put the hood on wrong and consequently have black corners.

nice pics, someone a couple of weeks ago showed me some HDR stuff and what it was, how it was done...really interesting stuff, some of yours are quite nice. i like irish ocean hdr3

damn i need to go there. i have this fascination with Ireland (and Scotland too) that I just can't explain.

My fiancee had to live there for a few years to do research and will go back for a bit next year. She said it was a great place to visit, sort of a shitty place to live.

Yea the road/infrastructure system they had over there was pretty horrible. The roads were very fucking narrow. Barely enough room for 1 car let alone two cars passing

Jameson distillery is bad. So is the Guinness original "brewery".

Bulmers is great, though. Hard time finding it around here - I believe it's called Magners.

You probably did the right thing traveling in the areas that you did. Dublin is as expensive as London but far less interesting IMO.

Except for the Guinness brewery, of course.

Overall I thought the entire country was expensive. Gas especially, but that was to be expected of course.

nope

I was briefly in Dublin over the summer for a few days with no time to really explore the country. I got the impression that if the rest of Ireland has as inappropriately high a COL as Dublin, then the Irish will soon price themselves into a 2nd famine. Seriously....

I was going to say that I love Magners when I saw your link for Bulmers (I didn't know they were the same). The American commerical hard ciders are too sweet for my liking. Magners/Bulmers is dryer.

Nice pics man. Southwest, eh? Did that include Connemara or no? I thought some of the hills looked familiar, but honestly, pretty much all of Ireland that wasn't Dublin was just green hills and narrow roads and lots of sheep. Those HDRs are beautiful. It's too bad you didn't get to see Sliabh Liag (The Cliffs of Donegal); they are absolutely awe-inspiring. I took some pics when I was there over the summer if you're interested: http://www.xcgeorge.net/pics/thumbnails.php?album=12

Nah I was down near the Dingle, Kerry, and Beara Penninsulas, but I thought a ton of your photos looked pretty close to what I had. Looking back on my trip I was so surprised that the skies were so clear and sunny in the middle of february. Looks about the same as the weather in the summer when you went.
