Hey Dude,
I am pretty sure it's not the software. I think the card might have been bought by some one and try to hack with the software mod and ruin the card. If you can check to see if the heatsink is mounted back on with out the goo stuffs then it's definitely the card. This is why I don't like buying returned stuffs.
But ATI is very good with RMA.

Try reinstally XP totally, then try it, should work if not, it was a returned card, so don't be surprised.

99.9% of the Video card problems are user related, when installing drivers from a previous Nvidia card.
Reformat if you want to see it work.
Badmouthing ATi is immature and everyone will laugh at you and take it like you don't know what the hell your doing.

You could've gotten a Bad card, but you'll never know because of your close mined attitude about the matter.
I say buy Nvidia if that's what you want, it's your loss.

If you dont know what driver cleaner is. Figure it out.

NEGATIVE! Ati informed that the driver cleaner is what caused my problems. It removes the DM Category Display Adapter so your new drivers sit in the UKNOWN category.

I disagree. This isn't directed at you, I do think he's got something going on here, but giving someone the only option is to format your PC is not helping. You don't take your car in for service and the tech says "We're going to have to rebuild your engine, because we don't have a clue what the problem is". Now with that said, I don't know what his problem is. I would have to say we gave him enough to try. Get back with us once you've gotten some more answers.

I think thats a bad analogy.

reformatting is free and easy, and it is a good thing to do for your system once in awhile anyway. I have never heard that about driver cleaner, but thanks for bringing it up. Driver cleaner has solved problems for me like this in the past, all software has certain issues and im sure driver cleaner isn't perfect, that doesnt mean its a bad tool.

1. You arent too bright blaming ATi for a returned card, that was probably returned because it didnt work.
2. You really arent too bright that you want nVidia's 256meg mid-level card, which is dog slow because of low memory speeds.
3. I cant really say what I want to, because rules prohibit it.

He should buy Nvidia. He's got the drivers on there already .

Well I have had nothibng else than trouble with my Nvidias. I had to return twice my Ti 4200 and even then I had a card than didnt work properly on very heavy games it shows artifact but I was sick and tired of the returning so I decided to stick with cos I could still play the games with which the most important thing. My next card will syurely be ATi.
