Why would I take out $65-70k from my retirement when I can borrow at 3%?

I don't know many even doubling my income paying cash for newer cars though.
$65-70k, what are you talking about? All this time and you don't even have a clue what the cars cost you're looking to buy? This gets better all the time.

Wow...I posted a fact and you go off the deep end with some stupid insults. What the fuck is wrong with you? You remember a lot of granular details about me, you must have the most boring life imaginable.

Must feel weird it's not you throwing around the insults.

Just so you know, your retorts and comebacks and use of childish internet meme's (ie: u mad?) really don't help you with trying to convince the internet of your ballin life. You remember that slow guy in school that wasn't quite dumb enough to be in special ED, but never excelled at anything and needed help tying his shoes? Of course you don't because it was you.

It is my belief that you will never own any of the said cars mentioned in this thread, but a guy can dream right? Hey, you know, the new Ford Focus is pretty nice....splurge for the Titanium edition?

$40k budget? awesome.

find an m3 with competition package and manual (thats the ultimate e46 to me and in interlagos blue) its gonna be hard to find one but it would be worth it. if ur looking into Auto-x and HPDE/track time, the m3 is the way to go, charger is too heavy, and the s5's motor is over the centerline of the front axle, so weight distribution is not gonna be too good, but if ur looking for a cruiser all 3 cars should be good.

I want white on black hardtop. There was one on autotrader with only 2000 miles or something for $45k, but I sadly cannot buy it now just due to logistics. Have a heavy travel schedule and on top of that two more certification tests in the next two month.

The icing on the cake is my little old 3-legged dog that beat cancer so far now has diabetes. She's doing great, but we are still dialing her in to the right insulin level.

In the end my track days are over, with two dogs I tend to head to dog park or try to ride my mountain bike more. I still want a "rarer" car at a stop light and one that's fun. My dogs will ride in it too :)

Due to some possible financial gains I am looking more at the 09+ CTS-V now. The kicker is that it only has a rear pass-through and not fold down seats. I am a network engineer plus 'handy man' type so laying down a set of rack legs or some 2x4's may happen time to time when I just can't realistically obtain a rental vehicle.

When I looked at the CTS-V I thought it had the same folding rear seat as the normal CTS, apparently they changed that :(.

I have the 2012 SRT8 on my list too even though I really really hate the scalloped door panels. Interior is much nicer and technologically it's in a whole different league.

The M series I have always liked....the E36 was a great contender but it just doesn't deliver the performance I want. The E46 looks beautiful, but inside is a bit more refined than the true M / performance car...also it's 6 years old at best. The others would be 2-3 years old.

My car is very important to me. My wife is set with the Mazda 3 hatch. She's all about that happy guppy face. I was pushing her to the GTI and Audi lineup.

I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. I just throw my stuff up like a blog I guess.

I was actually in gifted classes since 6th grade. My IQ is pretty much up there.

The Titanium Focus is about $30k, I know this because I am also buying my wife a new car. She thought it wasn't very cute. I actually didn't hate it. It's not my type of car, but it was pretty damn nice.

I don't really know what you have me pegged for. I am a pretty high level professional though and constant on personal growth which caters to that. I spend a lot of time reading and researching things that others would skip over.

If your story above about a DUI and now in some beater car is true I'd really look at different insurance companies; providing you didn't hurt someone else or property most insurance companies today know DUI arrests are usually bullshit. For the latter issue, start studying something...hot jobs are definitely out there. Network Engineers are really in demand that know their stuff. I personally feel anyone that has enough intelligence to start this path (you don't have to be a genius, but you do have to have the proper mindset) can pull off the CCIE level in 18-24 months if fully dedicated. You basically give up about 2 years of your life. Most have to work 40 hours or more a week, this will take almost another 40 hours a week plus financial investment in lab time and equipment. Sadly this financial investment is much less than many put into gaming rigs, consoles and their cars.

The payoff is a six figure a year job with almost no unemployment ever. Most of the unemployment comes from not willing to relocate to a major city.

Doctors are looking at 8 years and a six figure education cost. Same with Lawyers. The former can usually flex that into upper six figures a year and more if doing surgery/specialities.

The latter may end up working for $30k as a clerk in many markets.

As a CCIE 'employed' role is as good as how companies can support your billable hours.

I have a DUI, long story short, my soon to be ex at the time knew a cop and had him waiting at my parking spot coming home that night while I gave her space after our break up...it was only about paying $6000 in fees and maybe 6 hours of my life tied up in stuff I had to go see, the courts even let you buy your community service out. It was like $10 or so per hour, low hanging fruit really. Fortunately, I was able to do that part. There was a lot in all the classes and bullshit I had to go to that were financially wrecked. That part of the whole thing DUI law has become is sad.

Alkemyst, I just want to know where to send my donations because honestly, I can't possibly buy entertainment and drama this good on any network TV anymore.

Just when I thought I had you figured out, you'd go on a tantrum that leaves me head scratching. I just don't know what to think. You are THAT good!

If you won't accept donations (due to your awesome financial status)then please humor the thought of continuing whatever it is you're doing, because I - like many others - can't get enough of it.

Wow, this has to be one of the most genuine posts I have ever seen you make. No attacks, no insults.

I am not the one with a DUI, I am highly against drinking and driving.

I think the doors look better in person. It wasn't an SRT8 but last weekend when I was down south there was one parked at my hotel and I got a good look at it. Overall it's a pretty sharp looking car, especially the rear - I think it looks sick. Interior looked really nice, especially compared to the outgoing car.

I would hold old for the new tranny though, it's either a 7 or 8 speed vs the 5 speed.

This thread was so good, I can hardly wait for the "Should I buy CTS-V, M5, or Maserati Quattroporte" thread.

The Maserati is in my budget, but don't like it at all. Know a guy that has one, he loves it.

The M5 I did want to like...unfortunately getting 12MPG is not going to work.

I am seriously thinking the CTS-V now 2009's around 45-50k, I'd love to get a black diamond one, but that's $65k...I don't like the yellow highlights though.

I know this is obvious and you're not seriously thinking of buying one, but maintaining a Maserati would likely be ruinously expensive. Mechanically it has much in common with a Ferrari and will be highly maintenance intensive and parts and labor will be extremely costly. I could easily afford to buy a used QP, but I don't know that I could afford to drive one.

Just being a Maserati means the parts are going to be ridiculous. But you are right that many end up in used exotic type cars not realizing that some need to pull the engine out for basic maintenance and equally nutty things.

I will be buying my wife a new Mazda 3 hatchback as well.

You probably should troll another thread.

I bought my first house at 23. 3/2/2 on a 1/2 acre in a prime subdivision in Palm Beach County. That was 17 years ago.

Do you still live at home?

I don't really turn money down ever, my usually donations where I send in a check are about $500 a pop. I usually throw a $20 bill into a pet charity bucket though.

I will take your money though, go here https://www.hspb.org/sslpage.aspx?pid=207

What frequency and amount should I expect?
