My throat's a little sore, I think I may be coming down with something...

Is there anything that I can take to prevent the cold/sore throat? I seem to recall everyone talking about some herb (echanasia?) that's supposed to work, but I'm a bit skeptical.

Prevent it? No.

You can alleviate it somewhat, though. I use hall's cough drops w/ eucalyptus. They keep the throat kind of "oily" so that it doesn't feel like scorched sandpaper.

*sigh* I hate getting sick. 🙁

Thanks, I'll pick some of those up... it's just frustrating everytime I try to swallow and it hurts. 🙁

If you take a dose of Vitamin C and twice the serving size of echinacea, I all but guarentee it will piddle out & you won't get sick.

I'll remember to take my multivitamin (even though it smells and tastes like alfalfa) tonight, thanks...

How about a doctor? He can check you out and give you some stuff to hopefully nip it in the bud.

otherwise vitamin C and fluids and most importantly plenty of rest. body needs to be able to fight the bug.

Hey spidey... I don't think it's serious enough to make a doctor's appointment (yet), and can't afford to miss anymore work for awhile. I guess I'll go home, buy some lozanges, take my multivitamin, drink lots of OJ and go to bed early. Ughhh, I wish we didn't have to get sick... 🙁

well if you go to the doc now you can keep it from getting worse (especially if its bacterial). set an appointment during lunch.

i like to hammer down the emergen c (vitamin c powder)...i chug this w/ water...and it keeps me from getting worse and speeds up the recover time

Acutally an Ionizer will help with remove excess bugs and germs in the air. it can't prevent you from getting really sick, but will reduce it.

or you can just keep a tabletop tesla coil in your room running at all times that would do it 😀

traditional medicinals makes some nice teas that are handy to keep around.. some throat ones and cold ones.. that have the added benefit of being soothing just because they're hot and you're gonna put honey in them, because if you're young enough to be asking a buncha faceless forum people about your sore throat, you're probably gonna have to have honey in your tea to drink it 😛

my daughter likes the gypsy cold care one best. 🙂
