I loved it. Its what science fiction is all about. Too many of you people want a solid conclusion out of every movie. I'm willing to bet that those that do want that also have little to no imagination.

I think Solaris is not about science fiction.
It's just the setting for the story.
If you watch this film hoping to see a science fiction movie then you will sorely dissapointed.

I agree with yamahaXS
the message was that reality is subjective, and life means what you want it to mean
The film is even more profound if you just lost someone you love.
I happen to lost my rabbit this January and she's been with me for 6 yrs.
I still can't let go of her sometimes. She means so much to me.
A lot of times I keep thinking what I wouldn't give to see her just one more time.
Watching Solaris makes me remember her more and if I were in that positions, I won't know what I'll do too.

IMHO, The way the film ends is a happy ending.

Stanislaw Lem was a great sci-fi writer. Solaris was his biggest novel, but I believe he's most remembered for his Commander Pirx short stories.

I have all of his books - a good thing too, because they're becoming increasingly difficult to find at the book store. No, people are more interested in reading Star Trek fan fiction I guess...
