I just did a write up on my first impressions with Google Chrome:

Summary:

  • + Nice design and speed, overall good out of box performance

  • - Lack of Java, Silverlight plugins, no home button (edit: home button disabled by default, thanks dNor!)

Wrong forum, anywho.

Oh, I see. It's a thread disguised with a digg.

I understand the reaction, and yes... If I wanted to bury my thoughts beneath thousands of others I could have (and perhaps should have) posted in the other thread...

As for the digg link, I don't think I disguised it (I even said please), and I even offered a direct link so as not to shove it down anyone's throat.

Chrome is very bland. Speed and the anti-crash feature are it's two greatest attributes. I don't see myself using it much except to snipe the last minute bids on ebay.

Kudos to Google for making it (almost) standards compliant, it (almost) passes the Acid 2 test and does an impressive 77/100 in the Acid 3 Test, better than almost every other browser out at this moment.

One thing it does not do is open PDF files in a browser window, something I once dreaded but now prefer due to the speed and download then render on demand built in to adobe's latest version of Acrobat Reader.

Opens PDF in the window for me.
