Your facts are wrong. They won WW1. You were probably taught to think the US won WW1 but France and Britain were the main victors and did the heavy lifting. And they didn't suddenly become pacificists. They didn't quite give up their colonial possessions at the drop of a hat and they participated in the first Gulf War.

Whether you like Bush or not, you have to admit his administration has done a good job preventing any more terrorist attacks in the U.S.

Despite all the liberals whining about Ashcroft and the Patriot Act, those two are what kept Muslims from inflicting further terrorist attacks on the U.S.
Well, Clinton did a much better job, then. The last 7 years and 10 months of his administration went without an al Qaeda attack on US soil.

Too bad he didn't pay attention to Timothy McVeigh.

Clinton on the whole tried to crack down on right-wing psychos and got a lot of heat from the right about it. It's a good thing for all of us that right-wing terror went out of style after 9/11. It was building up quite nicely before...

In the UK however it's likely that the British will galvanize in the opposite direction. In the coming days we will see how effective the terrorists are.

This could be a huge turning point.

I doubt the Brits are the cowards the Spanish were.

I agree.

BTW, fyi, the Spanish have caught terrorists involved in both 9/11 and the 3/11 attacks. This is with the new gov't in place.

They also fought long and hard in Vietnam. And before anyone makes fun of them for giving up there, remember we did too.

Also remember before making fun of France (so they're not very good at waging any type of real war) that during WW2 they probably had the best and most effective resistance campaign ever in history. I don't like France that much, and the French as a whole, but I'm still damn impressed by the France resistance during WW2.
