you ought to spend your money on a tax advisor instead so you dont have such large tax returns.

If these items did exist (and i haven't heard anything about a qx9750) the cost might be something like the following:
qx9750 ($1200.00)
780i with 3 sli spots ($300.00)
1200 watt power supply ($300.00)
3 9800 gtx (3x$600.00=$1800.00)
Total of $3600.00
There is nothing wrong with being excited about the future, or even speculating on future products (its done here all the time) but if you don't post realistic expections (price and/or actual products) it will simply be dismissed...

Please Alan, spend some of that on an education. It'll give you at least as much pleasure.

Still cheaper then my proposed skulltrail rig, IF i decide to build it. Maybe a regular penryn rig might do, and i might give Nvidia a chance with there 780i. But thats a VERY BIG maybe.

But let the guy dream.. and if these threads bug you, then just dont post. At least it keeps the forum moving. :T

Firstly i dont know about 780i supporting 1600MHz FSB QX9770. I dont think it does, but that doesn't stop you from getting maybe the QX9650.
Secondly, i have no idea if the geforce 9 series will be out around April timeframe and if it will support tri SLi.
Thirdly, im jealous. If i had the luxury to spend that much, and have the latest cutting edge PC hardware, id do it. Nothings better than waking up in the morning with hot coffee on one hand and turning on such a PC for casual internet surfing.
Like aigomorla said, the 3xGPU will be the most costly and you could probably go with a skulltrail build which is basically dual socket motherboard (771?) with SLi.

Alan, if you want to build a 5, 10, or even $15,000 PC, that's your business. It's your money. Just don't expect everyone on every streetcorner, or internet forum, to be as excited about it as you are, because I can promise you that you'll be disappointed.
Now, I'm also willing to bet that once you've got it built, and start posting a few benchmarks, you'll see a bit more excitement from the regulars. Even then, though, there will be people telling you that you're stupid for spending that much money on high-end equipment.
Of course, those same people won't be able to post benchmarks like this one or this one, will they? They also won't be able to run Crysis, or FarCry 2 @ 2560x1600 with 16x AA, will they?![]()

I dissagree. The ammount of money you would gain from interest of balancing out even at the end of the year is negligable anyway. Plus, you would have the temptation to spend that which you think you have and at the end of the year, you have nothing to show for it. If you add to your monthly budget, you have a 90% chance of spending it and not saving it. At least with federal and state witholding, you never 'had' it and at the end of the year you get a nice big lump sum. I see absolutely nothing wrong with large returns. If you have the discipline to take that money and put it away, then by all means, try and even out as close as possible but most people are unable to do that. You will only make a few dollars more anyway, ~$25-50 or so on $3,000 return.

Nah... Skulltrail would cost way more then this.
Intel SkullTrail Board ~600-1000
Intel QX9775 ~1200-1400 dollars EACH x 2
Silverstone Zeus850 or Etasis 850 X 2 Your going to need 2 PSU's with this much hardware.
FB-DIMM DDR2 800 2GB x 4 Each cpu should get 4gigs of ram. <prices are getting cheap on these guys>
6 x Raptors 150's in RAID.
Add about 1000 dollars in H2O gear
Now You can add the 3x9800 + 1 PhysX card![]()
= One hell of an expensive computer, and my pockets arent that deep. :T

That hectorruizspecial has to be that high tech special invisible chip that claims it can top a C2D @ 10k ghz. I want one.![]()
