My T.V supports 720P

Will I see a difference if I upgrade my DVD player to one that supports 720P?

I was under the impression that DVDs are 480P so it wouldnt help me if I got a 720P DVD player.

This is assuming there are a lot of 720P DVD players to select from. Maybe I already have the latest DVD player and Im wishing for something that doesnt exist yet.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

DVDs are 480i, so a progressive scan player is deinterlacing it and giving you a 480p signal. If the scaler in your TV sucks, a good upconverting DVD player could be a good idea.

That said, you might want to just go straight to an HD-DVD player to upconvert rather than buying a ~$150 or $200 standard DVD player to upconvert.

You might see a little better quality if you bought a DVD player that upconverts the signal to 720p. I don't have a frame of reference since I'm going HD-DVD .
