I finally decided on Epox.....

amd 1.4ghz 266mhz
Epox EP-8K7A+ ddr(amd760)
2x 256mb PC2100 CL2.5 Crucial ram
Enlight 300w psu
Alpha pal6035 hsf
Maxtor 60+ 7200rpm ata100 30gb
Western digital 7200rpm ata66 15.3gb
Sblive value
Creative 3d blaster tnt2 ultra
Sony 52x cdrom ide
Iomega zipdrive 250mb internal ide
3com/scv eternet card

I'm not overclocking and
I do not intend to setup raid and will not configure it to raid setup.......but I intend to use the IDE raid port by HPT370 so I can hook up more ide devices.....

I intend to connect them this way.....

---normal IDE Port---
primary master: Sony 52x cdrom ide
secondary master: Iomega 250mb internal ide

---IDE raid Port by HPT370---
primary master: Maxtor ata100 30GB
secondary master: Western Digital ata66 15.6GB

may be getting a ide cdrw in near future and will connect it to secondary master and put zipdrive to secondary slave...

any compatibilty issues or things I have to take note? I need some final comments before I get Epox ddr.

thanks!:)

Why are you putting the hard drives on the RAID controller and not the regulare EIDE connection?

just wondering...

Just my 2 cents, I would most definatly get RAID, it provides a significant performance boost in everything except gaming. I would recommend in the future doing ti.

you cant do raid if your hard disks are not exactly the same, so at the moment RAID is useless, right. So, basically you just have IDE 1,2,3,4 which all support UDMA 100, which is fine, right?

you CAN do raid but it will set to the smallest drive size. are you trying to set everything to master to try to speed things up abit?
