I have a APC UPS XS1500 battery back up. When the PC goes off AC power from the wall and the UPS kicks in my system will go blank screen and then shut off properly. Almost if it is going into hibernate. Upon reboot there is no " your pc shut down incorrectly " nor does it load up from a hibernate image. It boots up just as if it shut down normally.
So you might be thinking the problem is in the APC device but understand my PC will run for 30mins on the device if I simply unplug the data usb cable from the device so my PC does not know it is on battery back up power.
Something in my system is causing my PC to immediately go into shut down mode the moment it detects via the USB cable to the device that it is off the AC wall power and running on battery. That would leave me to focus on either WIndows power management software or the APC UPS utility. Both of these I have made sure are set to not shut down right away. Also this is not an overload issue, the screen reads 28mins of run time when it is running on battery (while the USB is unplugged ).
I can't figure this out, something software related is triggering my system to shut down which is VERY annoying when there is a flicker in the power or my laser printer kicks in and my AVR function triggers the voltage drop which also turns off my PC. The reason for this obviously is to keep my power constant but the only way that works is if I disconnect the data cable from the APC UPS to the PC but then my system will not shut down automatically if I am away. HELP.
