Gas is too expensive. Didnt we win the war?

sure we won the war.... it's time the big oil companies got some return on their investment, no??

Certainly! Tax payers foot the bill for the war effort, petroleum companies get the returns. How very nice.

That's the way this country works. We give companies a huge tax cut and they outsource their workers in return. We let them strip-mine state parks, and then we foot the cleanup bill. Look at Superfund, all of these corporate disasters. Who ends up paying? The middle-class taxpayer.

War or no war, the only folks that win are the oil producers, oil refineries, and their allies.

Even if you switched to a hybrid SUV like the upcoming Toyota Highlander, which is going to get an estimated 28 MPG, you're still hosed as compared to a standard Toyota Highlander (18city/24hwy) the hybrid only gets approximately 33% better mileage.

Thus, with gas prices having increased about 30% over the last months and likely to go higher this summer, your gas savings have been nuked by the oil industry.

If the entire USA switched to hybrids, the oil industry would still find a way to jack prices up to $3.00/gallon, which would mean we would be saving NOTHING.

Compared to other countries we still have the lowest gas prices. We've had it good, we just didn't know it.
