Please call or email me if you would like to check out the car or have any questions! Scott, 858.952.8266

Car was purchased outright from a dealer 6 months ago with 155k miles. It now has 158,024mi. The blower was installed on the car ~800mi ago. A compression test ensured the engine was still strong. These S52 engines can easily last 250k+ plus no problem! The strong and simple design is what sets this M3 apart from the others years. A maintenance refresh was completed immediately which included replacing all wear and tear parts under the engine. All plastic parts were changed with their metal equivalents. This car has everything and needs nothing. I have all receipts and invoices for parts and work done as well as a clean Carfax from when the car was purchased (VIN# WBSCD9323VEE05083). Car has never been driven hard as it was a daily driver. Selling because I am moving into a condo in a couple weeks and no longer need two cars. This is a great car and I wouldn't sell it unless I had to!

This Cosmos Black M3 Sedan with Luxury package is the rarest combo an E36 BMW can be had in. Only a few hundred Sedans were produced in 1997 and 1998 and many of them were autos. The Dinan Supercharger by Vortech is currently running 6.5psi of boost and is on par in terms of speed to an E46 M3. It produces 340hp and 307 lb-ft torque at the crank. It can easily be upgraded for little money to make another 150hp with Stage III parts from KO Performance or one of the many other companies who develop parts for this car. I have all the original parts, manuals, badges, everything... that were replaced and will be including them to the new owner. When priced out to other Force Induction options I honestly must say that this is a great deal! This CARB exempt (meaning it can pass California smog laws) Supercharger kit cost $6500 minus the 8 hours of labor Dinan charges. I dare to say it's the fairest priced, and one of the highest quality, Forced Inducted BMW's currently for sale today!

The car was carefully modified to replace and enhance the aging parts with less restrictive and more free flowing variants. This includes:

Dinan purchased and installed Vortech V2 Supercharger
H&R Springs on Bilstein/Koni Dampeners
Viper 2-Button Remote Alarm System
Sparco harness bar
Sparco 4-point camlock harness
Isotta steering wheel with hub adapter (including oem luxury steering wheel with airbag)
ZKW Euro headlights with DDE's and E46 eyebrows (including oem headlights with bulbs)
Apexcone 5000k HIDS
Optima Red Top Battery
M50 intake manifold (including oem S52 manifold)
Supersprint tubular exhaust headers (including oem cast iron manifolds)
Mashaw front bumper with Carbon Fiber Lip and 4in 55w Xenon Fog Lights
Rieger Type II rear bumper with Carbon Fiber Lip

I just noticed this, but some pictures above might appear as if the car has a leak. The spots
were there when we moved into the current rental property a year ago and I assure you this car is not leaking. This M3 has no leaks, oil, coolant or otherwise!

Just to show how mileage friendly this car is with a supercharger, I checked my combined mileage for my drive to and back from work today. 12 miles each way with half street and freeway driving. I received 29.8mpg on the way there and a whopping 31mpg on the way back! EPA rates this car at 16/24 stock.

The reason it is higher with forced induction is that it raises the sustained pressure inside the engine which naturally wants to escape through the exhaust where it provides thrust. At constant throttle, this means increased mileage!

Asking $13k.

I'm locking this for two reasons:
One, the thread is OLD and it's already sliding off topic
Two, this is not the FS section

Not to thread crap but the E36 M3 Sedan are not rare, they are a dime a dozen now a days. More people selling them than coupes. *not ment to take away anything from the car you posted*

I strictly meant from a production numbers point of view. It can not be argued that there were only a handful of manual sedan M3's made compared to coupes. The fact that you say there are more sedans for sale does not charge this fact. Times have changed and more people want sporty sedans over a coupe. A majority of those sedans are autos as well and do not have the luxury package. So basically I am merely emphasizing that the M3 I have has the most rare combo (in relative terms) an E36 M3 can be had in.

Bah, that radio came on the car when I bought it. I believe it's a Panasonic. I dunno if you guys know this, but the stock E36 radio only has a cassette deck and noteven a CD player!

I seriously doubt this gimmicky harness bar is road legal, a harness bar is usually attached to a roll cage. I doubt this would pass inspection at a track event.

Since when is anything made by Sparco "gimmicky?" It passes SpeedVentures and Redline Track Events inspection. It's the same kind of bar I use in my other car and is not a problem at HPDE's. The contact points are where the seat belt contacts both on the top and bottom of the b-pillar. It's mainly there to hook up the Sparco harness. You absolutely do not needa full blown roll cage especially for a street driven car.

I drove a '97 M3 sedan back in...'97 and it was a great car. By today's standards it is a decent car but with 150k+ miles on it there is no way in hell I'd buy it. Especially being that it has been heavily modified...oh, and I'm not in the market for a car either.

I've owned two used BMW 3 series in the past and I'm not looking to repeat that nightmare.

Whats keeping the bar from going forward? If there was a 3rd anchor point from behind the rear seats i would understand, i just dont see anything holding this bar from going forward.
I didnt mean you need a roll cage in your car, usually harness bars are connected to a roll cage because the roll cage doesnt move at all, this harness bar of yours doesnt look that sturdy.

i had a 99 540 - when BMW stated they have "The Ultimate Driving Machine" they really meant it. i LOVED that car.. but it got too expensive to maintain.. and to top it all off, the radio sucked badly and it's not easily replaceable

Nice car, and probably a helluva fun toy! I'd have no problem recommending it to anyone with the caveats :

(1)- Ideally, this should be a 2nd car, weekender kind of thing.

(2)- Ideally, this is for someone with experience working on BMW's, as a tuner BMW is going to take a bit more TLC and know-how to keep in optimal condition.

But yes, VERY nice car 🙂

Are you even legal to drive?

Many here claim otherwise because they have enough NAWS to blow out their floorboards, but a rollcage is the last thing you want in a street car...a harness bar when designed right provides a safe mounting point for the belts.

im not being facetious or anything but buy a real camera for 200$ and you could recoup that money in the sale and more. nothing worse for online sale than poor pictures and descriptions. atleast you are thorough in description

Thats the million dollar question, judging from the pics it doesnt look like its anchored sufficiently. While it might be a proper harness bar, i wouldnt bet my life on it to keep in my seat in case of an accident.

What would apply so much force to it that it would be forced forward with more force than the stock seatbelt mount cant hold it?

I do however cringe when I think of a rear seat passanger in low speed accident or even an aggressive braking situation.

+10000000000

You can get an extremely decent used 4-5 MP camera on Ebay for well under $50, hell even a name brand 2.0MP camera would take good photos for selling online. There's absolutely no excuse for trying to sell an expensive item - especially something like a car - with blurry, shitty photos. If I were in the market, I would be wondering what kind of cosmetic flaws the car had that didn't show up in the low res garbage pics.

Cell phone cameras are a novelty, and nothing more. CELL PHONE CAMERA = NOT REAL CAMERA.

That said, the car looks nice - from what I can make out, anyway. Good luck with the sale.

Nice car. I cannot believe I am the first to ask but why are you selling it? You bought it 3k miles ago and sank a TON of cash into a supercharger 800 miles ago.

guys this thread is borderline necro. If he hasn't sold in in half a year well.. I guess in this market its possible.
