My Super Orb had a short life span. No wonder I can't install Win98 after several formats!!!!!

I finally installed Windows onto my computer (again) and after many crashes in the middle of installation and blue screens, I opened my case to see if it is hardware related. Sure enough, BOTH fans stopped operating. :(

Enough Orbs. Whoever engineered those must not be concentrating on functionality.

And yes... I do not like Thermaltake anymore!!!!! :|

So on the other side of things, I decided to open the lid of my case and have a aluminum panaflo blowing on the heatsink when I use my Athlon. :) I have a K7T Pro 2a board and I was wondering about the FOP 32-1 or the Taisol variants. Any comments?

Oh and when I did realize that this was the problem to my crashes (and the fact I had to power down and let the computer rest) I checked the temperature to find it in the 60s Celsius range. :Q

The FOP32-1 is good. Also the Taisol CGK742092, and the Alpha PAL6035. All three are great performers, but the FOP32-1 is the cheapest of the bunch.

yeah orbs r ok for celerons but anything more powerfull I like to use a big heatsink :)

Fop-32 is good, especially for the price! but the taisol is much quieter

just out of interest, doesn't that board have hardware monitoring of your cpu fan speed in bios?

Squirrel dog... I had good success when loading W2K variants in an medium overclocked state.

for OS load
ex Duron 650 @ 8x
fsb 100
mem fsb+33
cas3
vio 3.3

then

Duron 650 @ 9.5x
fsb 106
mem tweaks
and vio to 3.5

I couldn't get 9.5 if the OS was loaded at stock. This is more jerkin' around because you need to find out what max OC you can load at then back off a little. Then OC once things are rolling.
