I'm looking to build a cheap computer for under $600 based on the Athlon XP 1700+. I plan to O/C it so I get more performance. Heres what I've got for parts already... BTW: I've already got a 24x CD-RW and a 17" Monitor...

Proc Athlon XP 1700+ here $61.00
Case Raidmax Silver 10-Bay here $23.00
Mobo Abit NF7-S here $125.00
PSU Enermax 350 W here $53.00
HDD WD 800JB here $98.00
Mem Samsung DDR 2700 512 MB here $78.00
GFX PixelView GF4 Ti4200 VIVO 8x here $148.00

Total $586.00
I'm debating whether I should go with the 1700+ from Newegg or from Excaliber Pc cause Excaliber tells you the model # and stuff.

I think I'm going to get the XP 1700+ from Excaliber Pc with stepping code JIUHB:0310WPMW because that is supposed to be a good O/C at stock voltage. I expect to get about 2.3 and up at stock voltage. Here is the link Here

Looks good, what kinda of HSF you plan on using? I recommend the tried and true "SLK800" with a good 80MM or even a 92MM fan. I just recently upgrade my 80MM sunnon fan to a 92mm 66CFM 40DBA ys-tech fan and it cools better with the same noise as my 80mm.

any reason for the abit as opposed to the Epox 8RDA+? it's only $99 shipped from Newegg. you might be able to find it even cheaper. it'll save you $20 to maybe get the SK7 for a heatsink :)

just a thought
have fun with your system :)
