My soyo dragon p4s ultra won't post

Ok, I just bought a brand new computer. Everything is hooked up, but the first time that I turn it on, the hd was in slave.
So I had to shut it down so I could change it to master. After the that, it won't post. All I can see is the green light on the mother and a long beep. Then again, I tried to switch it back to slave but still it won't go. So I went back to master and it worked at first but it after it restarted from the bios, it won't post any longer.
Can anyone help me out here?
Also, (hope this help) the optical mouse and the mother light is on too even I if shut the computer down. How can I disable this on the motherboard?

here are the specs:
Hercules 8500
256mb 2100ddr crucial
maxtor 40gig 7200rpm
lit-on 32x cdrw
mid atx case with 320 power supply from serverparts.com
mother is the soyo dragon p4s ultra

just a few questions that may sound dumb:

Did you plug in both power connectors to mobo.
Did you read the manual and set the jumpers to auto or default positions
Did you wire the case properly to the computer
Is the hard drive ribbon cable in the right direction?

You must be powering down the computer and not shutting it down when the lights remain on.
Oh, and if you don't have raid, I would turn off the raid check because it kills precious load time.

Your computer should boot to the bios.. those beeps probably mean the hardware isn't connected right.

Did I plug in both power connectors to mobo. ------ Yes
Did I read the manual and set the jumpers to auto or default positions- yes
Did I wire the case properly to the computer?---- yes
Is the hard drive ribbon cable in the right direction? yes

Yeah, I did turn off raid when I it post, and save the bios too. Now I just hear a long beep. How do you turn off the light on the motherboard anyway? I think that's for the WOL

I think that light being always on on the motherboard is the problem on why I keep on hearing the long beep. So does anyone know how to disable that light on the jumpers, not bios because I can't even get there.

Which light? The green led is 5v standby meaning power to board is on.Read the manual page 8 and 9 number R.Then read appendix c page 138 and 139,power on no video beep heard.Clear cmos check(pull and reinsert video card and memory. If that doesn't work i don't know, maby look up award post codes and see what one beep means.

One other thing, when you changed the hard drive to master did you get the jumper right? Try setting it to cable select and use the cable that came with the board. Blue connector to motherboard black connector to drive.

I found out what's wrong already. Thanks guys, but the problem was the memory from crucial. It's defected and I will be returning this to newegg.

Your memory defected? LOL ROFL 🙂 You mean to the dark side? 😛 Or maybe to Russia? 😛
Dam Commies! 🙂
