You think for 276 bucks, they could've mounted all those inputs and outputs onto a nice, clean, breakout box, with labeled connectors, and then sent data back and forth with a nice thin digital coax or something, so the only thing hanging off the back of your computer was a single little RCA?

Guess that'd be too much to hope for.
