Another question: My Bravia had a Simplicity wall mount. Do most TVs share the same mounting setup? Should a Panasonic plasma TV be able to use the same mount?

Looks like I'm getting the GT30 from Amazon. The models are mostly discontinued while they wait for the new ones coming in April.

ST50 is out so that's seems to be the frontrunner. Since the old TV only works for 10-15 min there's no way to wait a month for the GT50 or VT50.

agree with JTsyo, get the ST50 if you are going plasma and want to buy RIGHT NOW, 55 for 1650 is a good price

Burn in, maybe. IR, not so much. Samsung plasmas are still prone to IR.

As for color and black reproduction, take a look at Sharp's Elite LCD. Absolutely trumps all plasmas on the market now in all categories, except viewing angles. If the viewing angles don't bother you, the thing is an absolute beauty! It comes with an absolutely beautiful price tag too though. ;)

I thought plasma was better than LCD? Are you saying this LCD is better than the VT series from Panasonic?

Not necessarily. Depends on which plasma you are talking about and which LCD you are talking about. In this case, Sharp's Elite takes the top spot, by a pretty good margin I might add. Not to mention there are no 70" plasmas available.

the sharp has a cyan issues as well as an annoying pulsing/off angle issue, (i know no TV is perfect) but seeing as its costs 2x what everything else does its a pretty stupid purchase IMO

The cyan issue is very hard to notice and I'd almost call it a non issue. The pulsing can be minimized in THX mode. Like you said, no TV is perfect. Even the Pioneer Elites weren't perfect, but I'd definitely say they were worth their price premium. I'd rather have the Elite with its issues (that I'd consider minor), instead of Panasonic's issue were its black level creeps up over time.

So long as Dari realizes that the Elites are also about twice the price of the Panny's.

I'd love to see an Elite in person after doing some reading on them. Not that I could ever afford to spend that much cash on a TV...

What do you mean by this? Do you mean the black gets too dark (higher setting) or gets more grey (fades?).

Blacks look great when you first get the set (although still not at the level of the Sharp Elite), but then gradually start getting lighter as time goes on (moving toward grey). The good news though is that Panasonic has been able to slow down this ugly side effect on their VT30. It does still happen, but at a much slower rate than previous generations.

New TV came yesterday. The delivery guys were supposed to pull it out of the box and plug it in to make sure it works. But they just gave my wife some line about it being below 50 outside and the TV needs to warmed to room temp before opening. I set everything up and it looks nice. No 3D glasses to check out 3D though. Can't see myself spending $100+ for them though, maybe once the prices drop.

Would it be worthwhile to remove the T-CON board before I dump the TV to e-bay it?

Might get you $20-$30 per board in there (power supply, etc). You can decide if its worthwhile.
