My Son Was Robbed For His Birthday

His birthday was on the 31st, he turned three. Got a birthday card from grandpa, or rather an envelope inside of a plastic wrap that said something along the lines of "you got robbed, with love, the USPS". He's too young to understand still but he had a lot of fun getting phone calls all day and some cards. I felt bad so I gave him a 20 and made it look like grandpa sent it. It's not about the money just the principle.

Just thought I'd share that. I'm a firm believer in life isn't fair get over it. Just thought I could shield him from bullcrap for more than three years.

3! Gosh they're growing up so fast now. The first time I remember getting robbed was at 4&1/2.

A 20 spot at 3 years old? Can he even count that high? Is he going to drive his ass to Target to pick up a pack of diapers or maybe the liquor store for a bottle of shitty whiskey?

Stole the card and the money

Post office sent a torn up empty envelope

I had a couple of Disney video tapes stolen from the PO system that was being sent to grandkids.
All that arrived was the flexible white Priority envelope. This was before they would insure Priority.

I then ordered it at a local store and had daughter pick them up for the kids.

PO says sorry 🙁

I hope you are teaching your son to communicate better than his father. Your intercourse skills are severely lacking...

So your entire "life is not fair, get over it" saying is just bunch of BS.

Sounds like a perfect time to start, it's NEVER too early to teach them this valuable lesson.

😛

You need more exposition in your OP. My first assumption was that gramps is an asshole who hates the USPS and sent a weird plastic wrapped birthday card bitching about it.

Try this.

"Instead of the card and birthday money gramps sent, USPS delivered a pre-opened envelope inside of a plastic wrap with an apology note to the effect of 'you got robbed. Love, USPS'".

$20 at 3 years old? That would have seemed like a million dollars to me when I was 5! For that matter, I would have had no concept of money.

My 9 year old still doesn't understand the value of money. Money in the card is about you and not your 3 yr old. Send a check next time. You get the same ohhs and ahhs.
