I use Anti Monkey Butt Anti Friction powder.

No longer have to feel bad at work making my co workers suffer the smell.

How about you just keep your shoes on...??

Not really helpful.

OP, I got a new pair of Clark's docksiders to replace my old ones. The new ones start smelling funky/as do my feet. I spray the shoes with some Gold Bond powder before each wearing and that's solved the problem.

Other than that good socks and rotating shoes if you are a heavy foot sweater is beneficial.

Most recommend rotating athletic shoes day to day.

I'm glad you found something that worked for you. I'm not positive that just using any brand powder wouldn't have been pretty equally effective. Perhaps you can clarify whether you tried a few different brands before settling on the one that you did? This goes for the OP and Alk...

BTW: Is it possible that you were being a bit 'self conscious'? I can't really imagine you having smelly feet affecting your co-workers.

That depends on many factors. Don't just judge everyone - once you'll be in the same position someday, you'll be sorry.

First of all, age matters a lot. Up to around 25 years old, I never had these issues. I could wear the thickest warmest socks/sneakers/boots and I would feel just fine. Sure my feet were hot, but it would bother me none, and my feet didn't smell much. I laughed at older people that would take off their shoes or complain about hot, sweaty feet.

Now, much older, I know better. I work as a support tech, and I sit all day in a steamy, cramped office. Often, I have to go all over the building to crawl under the tables and fix computers - so good shoes are not an option. I need something that I don't feel bad about destroying. I wear cheap black sneakers, and my feet stink, and I take off my shoes in the office to relieve my suffering.

I use GoldBond powder every morning, and that takes away the smell, so my co-workers don't have to suffer with me. ; )

I just went straight for the Gold Bond. I didn't have huge odor problems, the benefit is it makes the shoes more comfortable too.

I have been in offices where various BO was definitely known including ones feet (and this person would up the ante by taking off their shoe when at their desk/cube.

All were HR issues eventually.

Some decided not to remedy the situation and were let go.

I've had people comment on really being able to smell my feet while in shoes. My feet sweat a lot and tend to smell. One placed I worked in a semi small closed off room with 4 other people. One day during lunch a co-worker went out and bought one of those electrical socket plugin in air fresheners to deal with my dawgs.

It's definitely ymmv, some people just don't smell much with their noses, but some everything seems to bother them. There were a few who could literally announce when I walked in a room when they weren't looking and didn't even see me walk in. My level of foot odor definitely isn't normal, but it's not uncommon. I use 2 different products religiously to curb the sweating and the stench.

Wow. I really had no idea that it could be that bad for someone with normal hygiene habits. Thank you guys for the education. And, thanks for the suggestions on how to deal with the problem.
