My slow demise from video games/nerdy stuff

I think I have finally hit the point in my life where I am caring less and less about video games and other nerd related stuff. I used to always want to play Role playing games, computer games, card games, etc.... but lately I dont really care about this stuff anymore. It seems like the older I get the less I care.

Now all I want to do is hook up with women(and hopefully find a GF someday), play guitar, go out drinking with friends, play darts, play pool, excersise, play soccer, listen to music, etc......

When I get home the last thing on my mind if sitting around watching tv or playing video games, I always wanna go do something. I figure that I am 23 and I am still very young, and should be out there enjoying what life has to offer. There is no way I would wanna be 30 something bragging about my latest experience in Starcraft and the next episode of some Sci-Fi show ( I know too many people like this).

Yeah, I know the feeling. Games are getting boring now, I pretty much just end up talking to people or hanging out for entertainment. So I'm gonna get to where you are soon. I'm 19 BTW.

Haha enjoy, then it all comes crashing back at age 27, after you've had a gf for 3 years and you need time for yourself.

So don't delete anything, you'll be enjoying the games again soon enough!

I bought Half-life2 and Doom 3 during all the hype - I played about 1hr in total on both of them, then bought GTA:SA - played for 30 mins, just got bored

Used to be havily into D20 and dot system role playing, larping and the gathering cards - got bored.

I prefer to go out on my road bike, motorbike and riding other beauties (if you know what I mean)

All to do with a change of life attitudes I suppose. I prefer to go to sleep knowing that I've got all hot and sweaty, rather than with sore fingers and caffine adiction

You're just finding new things that interest you, that's all. I'm basically in the same shoes as you are, but I have slowly gotten back into playing games. Games are still fun for me, but there are more options available for things to do, which is a good thing.

I go through phases, and I'm sure you are experiencing the same thing right now. Don't delete or sell your stuff as you never know when the bug will strike.

I know the feeling exactly. I haven't been able to play a full game in years. I got GTA:SA, but stopped playing after finishing like 4% of it. When I brought my last comp, I just went to the store and picked up stuff on the spot, when I was really into comps, I would plan the purchase months ahead..oh lord...

The only problem is, doing stuff IRL costs a lot more than downloading games or fiddling with apps. :-/

girls, alcohol, hobbies..hell, after the muchies are satisfied, even weed is expensive :p

Doing stuff like drinking and hooking up with women is overrated. I would much rather sit at home geting OSx to work on my 486 or boot linux on my cell phone. But that is just me.

I'll always be a nerd at heart -- but I seemed to have outgrown games quite a few years ago, and I'm 19. They don't seem to hold my interest the way they once did. I can still sit down and play the classics (NES, SNES stuff) which is always nice. I'm in the same boat as you, kind of. I'm still a technology-loving nerd and probably always will be, but tastes change. You're just finding more things to 'get into', so don't feel bad. You're just expanding your horizons!

Bingo!
I'm playing more XBox now that I'm married than I ever played video games before. I'm 27 now.
I'm far from a nerd, but it's nice having an hour or two in the evening to yourself sometime after a hard day's work.

i play games often still. i'm 23 and have a serious GF of about 3 years. i see her pretty much every day but we don't live together. she stays over probably 5 days a week or even more. i play games when i'm on my own mostly, but i play sometimes if she's over but is on the computer or something. i really don't play games as much anymore. i still play halo 2 probably 4 times a week on xbox live, but thats pretty much the only game i play. i just hooked up my SNES again and have bee nplaying mario kart again.

i also have gotten back into golf and am trying to play once a week as of now and go to the range once a week or so. i also workout 3-4 times a week after work, so i really am out from 8:30am to 7:30pm 3 days a week after the gym.

i try to stay busy too, but i still look forward to kicking back on my couch and puttin on my 50" DLP and watching some HDTV or some movies w/my 5.1 sound. and my GF loves movies as well so it makes it even better.

Yeah same here. I will never deny that I am not a nerd, I am one at heart. However seeing a bunch of overweight people in their early 30's arguing over some dumb@$$ sci-fi show while working dead end jobs makes me sick. I also dont like how my roomate does nothing but stay home and watch tv, to each his own but I really wish he would want to go out more.

I had the same thing happen as soon as I went away to college. Now that I'm working I'm playing video games again, in fact my girlfriend just got me a gamecube :D I get too tired to go out late when I have to wake up every morning at 6am so video games help fill the void when all my friends would be out till 2 and I don't feel like sleeping through work. However most weekends I touch neither a video game or a computer because I have other stuff to do, and when I happen to go out on a weeknight its the same.

That's my summer. After work, I just plop down and play a little bit of xbox. It gets boring after a while. I already finished Crimson Skies this summer, but a few more friends are back in town, so I'm gonna go hang out with them. Movie and dinner tonight :).

What time do you have to wake up? I usually get only 6 hours of sleep max at night, usually 4-5
